What should I do?? Live tournament experts help~

Hi CC members...
I am getting ready for a WSOP circuit event in a few weeks.
Would like to see if anyone could give me some solid advice.
I am guessing that it will draw about 800-900 players.
I am typically a tight aggressive player.
I had some success playing online, but in the last year have transferred to live games.
I know in a field that large, there will be a lot of bad beats and luck involved.
I am trying to see what I can do to tweak my game so that I can do better.

My initial strategy is to play as many hands as cheapily as possible in the begining... hoping to gather some chips.
Mid game, i will switch to more conservative play.

Anyone has any good input?

What's the structure of this tournament going to be like? If it has a good structure I wouldn't advise playing alot of pots early on. In position is alright, but if the structure is right you can play tight and aggressive throughout.

Okay, 10k chips and 45 minute levels. Looks like a VERY good structure.
I'm happy when I play 3k starting stacks and 15 min level mtts online because thats as good as it gets usually.
I suggest playing quite tight.
Just observe the way your opponents play. If they are all playing loose and limping into pots, then limp in along with them with your speculative hands that can hit sets, straights, or flushes.
For every person in the pot if you have a hand like AA, I would make a 3x Raise + 1 per every person limped. I.e. 4 people limp 25 chips, I might raise 175 chips rather than 50 to 75 because everyone will be calling you.
Try to get paid off on your big hands, and pay attention to the people who you will be able to continuation bet off a pot in position later in the game when you raise after you've raised pre-flop, and the people who will play back at you when you continuation bet. I suggest continuation betting always against the people who won't play back without a hand and rarely against a person who will play back unless you do have a hand or unless you believe youself to be able to outplay them.
Try to get very comfortable and be thoughtful in all the situations you find yourself in.
I look forward to one day playing a game like this.

that is a deep stack tournie with long blind levels...it would be ideal for you to play very tight even early...you are gonna seen some nice starting hands eventually and the deep stack gives you the flexibility to wait for them...once your stack starts to grow its important to take control of the table...it will be important for you to be aggressive in pots you are involved in...none of that check/call BS...its also important to pay attention to the blinds and clock during these tournaments...stacks are constantly growing and you want to maintain enough bbs as not to become "short stacked"

gl to you

Welcome to the forum! Good Luck to you in your tourney!
We have some great strategy articles here on this forum, I would suggest reading through the golden archives. Read a lot of threads in here, just about every possible topic has been discussed numerous times and chances are you will find answers to questions you may have. Use the search feature to help you out. Post any questions you may have about some hands you've recently played in the Hand History section and others will review them for you and offer advice. GL!

Search for small ball. Its essentially a strategy where you play a lot of hands for small pots and you play a lot of hands in order to try to hit hands like straights, flushes, sets, etc against opponents that over value hands like top pair, and then take all their chips

wow, thats a very impressive tourney youre walking into, best of lcuk to you. I would definitly agree with whats been said at the top of this thread, some good advice. these blinds will allow you to wait for good hands, but dont forget, others will be doing the same as well.
this isnt online poker, i hope your reading skill are up to par.
to go deep in this tourney, youre going to have to take a few risks and be able to rely on your reading abilities to get you out of trouble when the time comes, as well as put other people in it.
best of luck to you, according to your estimates, with that amount of people, the prize pool will be pretty big, TID!!!!
