In such a tournaments where the number of players is enormously huge you should play aggressive as much is possible with one important note, no bluff.
You also have to ask yourself what are your chances to win the ticket. If you feel like you have a very little chance to get the ticket you may not want to waste a lot of time playing these.
I admit I tried a bunch of times in this but no luck. The round 2 will be just as hard to get a ticket to a real wcoop so chances are really really really slim of winning both but I have no other way to afford wcoop main event or anything so gotta try.
I can't believe I made it through 9900 players... it actually played quite tight.
But I made it with less than 4 ANTES...
Large fields in these are tough. More players play recklessly at first. If these first step tourneys are offered frequently I would say you should be willing to take bigger risks early on. Not with total abandon to good poker discipline but not as tight as you might in the WCOOP main event itself.
For instance, pocket Q's vs two all in's ahead of you for your tourney life; I probably wouldn't call in the ME but I'm certainly going to call in a satellite that I can re-enter tomorrow night should I lose. I just don't have as much success playing the early stages of this type tourney using the TAG approach.
