| Time Banking Hey wanted your thoughts on this issue. We all heard of it, We all use it for tough decisions, Some use it to actually set players up into confusing other players, but What I want to know is for MTT's use..There's a-lot of weapons online at ones disposal, and I want to utilize this one the most..So my question is How and When...I know some use it for making the Cash/Bubbles, and that's what my question actually has to do with the most...My question is I find myself usually either SS, or Really SS, cuz I'm not taking enough chances and thus this actually hurts me when it comes to my big hands for the simple fact that ppl can/ do know I have a monster...I usually will use the time bank once the Antes are broken, and we maybe like 100 away from the money (Which isn't a bad idea cuz you let ppl take themselves out correct)? Yet the down fall to this is A)Rising blinds+antes and they'll hurt you correct, This will also Price most big stacks in, correct? So How do you use this weapon and when do you use it? |

| Near the bubble, i use full advantage of this. Afterwards, sometimes i will just fool people into thinking opposite (a long time can mean killer hand or bluff). Delaying a bit might be a good hand. That sort of thing. If you screw with them they WILL fall. |

| re: Time Banking poker I used the timebank normally when its for a huge amount of my chips but i have used it on several occasions when i think my opponent is bluffing and i want him to think that i have a big hand. After thinking i normally raise half to two thirds the pot to make my opponent think i have a monster. |

| Some people multi table the MTTS so if you can find out how many tables they are on, it may just mean their attention is on another table. Edit: Sorry, I realized my reply is not really what you were asking. You want to know about using it yourself. I mainly multi table so dont really use it for any reason other than needing time for a decision due to other tables. Last edited by fletchdad : 12th April 2011 at 2:56 PM. Reason: sorry |

| One thing I have noticed is that there is a tendency for people to "fall in love" with their cards the longer they have to look at them. So, if you are in a situation where there is a shove in front of you, and you don't really want to call, but you want SOMEONE to call (eg near the bubble or ITM), using some timebank could possibly induce a call behind. Maybe I'm dreaming this, but I do think that the extra time allows people to talk themselves into calling... Just an idea! |

I never really looked at it as if it's got the power to actually make others do as you want per say...Really!? I'm stunned but thx for that, Yet just curious how would you know it worked because of your T.B usage rather then the person just being dumb/loose |

I'll timebank for stalling purposes in a satellite a few off the bubble, especially if it'll help to make the other stacks have to pay an increased bb (if the blinds are going up soon, I'll time it with my timebank so that they'll pass me by before they go up & will hit players after me once they're higher). I never use it on/near a bubble in a reg. MTT. I don't see the point in it. |

| I never really use timebank at all for a decision in poker. I usually know exactly what my aim is in a hand, weather I'm going to be willing to stack or not. The only time I've used it is to make others weary into thinking I'm slowing playing a monster when I actually have nothing and will time bank it. All psychological really, I can never work out if someone is doing it or genuinely have a monster or not. In most sense though if the board is very wet and they have been calling down my bets and they tank on the river and shove on me I'm nearly always folding unless I'm committed. I usually start to think someone is slow playing when they call down and then time bank every community card. I don't like and never play the timebank when bubble is approaching. I kind of don't like the play, I don't really like sitting for hours to just win my buy-in back. I'd rather double up again on the bubble or bust out and I like playing vs time bankers with a short stack in the late stages who are trying to use it to that advantage. I usually will become overally aggressive with nothing because you know they are scared of bubbling.. The only time I'v used time bank for that is in a satty and it was for an extra 150% bankroll increase so I warranted time banking every hand at this point. Other than that, nothing really! |

| i use it sometimes on the bubble while watching the peeps in same situation i am to see if i need to stay aheaed of them as thee bb plnd is gonna hit and put them out before me etc. but is also a strategy i will use when i flop a monster hand and i know i have an aggressive player who will push or raise big. i will say in ah fk it use the time bank and call or allin.works most of the time, lol.especially if bigstack is calling anything behind you.nice for a double up when short stacked. but it can bite you in the butt too, nothing is guaranteed. |

| I sometimes use it on the bubble, but rarely because I feel like an ass to the rest of the table. Other than that I've used it a couple times to sort of set up a monster. If I'm raised a large amount after the turn, for example, and I'm POSITIVE I have the best hand, I'll run the timebank down pretty far to give the impression that I'm really having to think about the decision (like I'm on a draw and need to hit another card), then I'll just call. Push after the river |

| re: Time Banking poker Times Ive used this is when I have a big hand and an aggressive big stack is betting big to get me to fold. Ill use it to make him think that im not confident about my hand and sheepishly call his bet. Done it 3 or 4 times and worked. |

Sometimes i use it for actually thinking, counting outs, and reading the notes or the opponent statistics to decide to fold or to call on the river. |

| re: Time Banking poker I tend to use time banking if I become really confused with the way a hand is playing out. Most of the time I have a pretty good idea where I am in a hand and can play quite naturally. If someone takes me a bit by surprise though by making a bet I wasn't expecting or a shove I hadn't anticipated, then I'll use the time bank to walk through the hand so far. I've also been known to use it near a bubble but only if I'm massively short-stacked. I know some people would rather get knocked out trying to double up than limp into the money but sometimes I think limping into the money can be a good enough result. |
