Starting SnGs again Hey guys After taking a decent break from poker, Im thinking of starting up again and hope to build a bankroll from micro SnGs on Party. Although Party offers $1 SnGs that seem pretty soft (won 1st in my first game and was the bubble boy in my second shoving 99 into AA) I still want to refine my game more. Ive played with ICM trainer to get a better understanding of push/shove strategy, TAG play, and position to know when to get get aggressive or fold. The bad thing about Party is that the 9man sngs are turbo so the blinds go up really quickly (on my second game, I had 3 or 4 bb when I made the shove w/ 99). So I was hoping to get these questions answered. 1) how should I adjust to the faster rate of increasing BB? I find myself always on average or smaller when I play a TAG style. 2) what books/articles should I read to get better at SnGs, especially ICM. I understand the concept but cant implement it well into my range when playing and feel my range is a little tight in later games (I play A8s, KJ, KQ, and TT+ if at 10BB and increase my range as I dwindle down).

yeah playing turbos requires solid shove/fold strategy ... i saw u had gotten down to 3 or 4 BB, obviously you'd like to avoid getting that short i think just knowing that it is shove/fold time can be a big help and, of course, position ... big diff. shoving 44 on button vs. UTG again to state that obvious i don't know if you play in any home games, but they are almost always turbo-riffic, since there tends to be a social aspect and so the hands played between blind levels can be pretty low ... that experience certainly helped me playing turbos online Last edited by fugitive67 : 28th December 2011 at 4:47 PM.

Thanks Poker orifice. I was planning to read the FT tournament book first and read ch 3 to 10 which is all about nl holdem tournament strategy and was planning on reading Moshman's SNG Strategy next. Are there any books or videos that focus solely on good push/fold strategy or icm? Im also having trouble using icm in the moment since although I feel I understand the concept of icm which chanes $ev vs cev, I have trouble calculating my equity and then figuring out my push/fold range from that, even when Im not at the table (less time at the table so even more trouble calculating my equity).

You can get the trial of SNG Wiz Also, playing around a bit with PokerStove will probably be helpful (free, & if you're not very familiar with you can find just a ton of YouTube vids. explaining how to use it). FTP's Tournament book is a decent read but for books specific to SNG's you can't beat the two mentioned above.
