Stack Sizes- Is it the #1 Factor for MTT success? I am not recollecting what pro wrote this but thought it would be cool to post it and get your reactions. Do you agree or disagree? Stack Sizes- you should still take flops with people, because they will play really badly and make huge mistakes post-flop, but you have to be conscious of your stack size and what it allows. Everything — and I mean f---ing everything — in tournaments is dependant on stack size; it is clearly the most important concept

If you depend on your stack size to push people around you will end up with a short stack very quickly. there are so many other factors that come into play. Some of the other things is it depends on stack to blind size, position, and image.

Poker is a highly situational game, so different factors have different weights in different situations. So using a static weighting of various considerations will be fine sometimes, but pretty inappropriate at others. As a simple example relating to stack size, taking a lot of flops when you have a large stack is generally a better strategy when you can do so cheaply; i.e. when you have a lot of chips relative to the blinds. So it's not as effective later in tournaments when the cost to play is a higher proportion of everyone's stacks.
