| small ball poker Been trying to learn "small ball" poker the last few weeks, which is a 180 degree turn from the way I learned how to play. ( I'll call it flawed TAG) I'm looking for a couple of answers/opinions on some thoughts about small ball that have been bothering me lately. I know there are different circumstances and situations, I'm looking for general opinions here. Thank you. Is small ball a better strategy for trny or ring games? I like seeing flops in trnys, but it seems to me this strategy should ONLY be played if you're in the 50+BB range. Other wise, especially later in a trny, aren't you risking too many chips? I'm also looking for hand ranges specific to the 3 seats RIGHT of the cuttoff. I think I'm playing too loose from these seats. |

| Small ball doesnt necessarily mean playing lots of hands. More or less it's about controlling the size of the pot. You dont want to play a ton of big pots early in mtts. When in early-mid position id stick to a fairly tight range. 55+ A8s+ ATo+ Those ranges might be slightly debatable. The main thing with small ball is being able to outplay your opponets post flop. |
