micro ... ??? ... there IS no standard, imo. Micros are what they are ... 'micros'. You are seated at a table where you may not have ever played any of the other players before. You have NO reads, NO info, and the same size stack. On your right, an all-in maniac, on your left a calling station. Or maybe a super-nitty tag on your right and a LAG on your left. What position are you in? UTG? EP? MP? Btn? Even at low and micro stakes, it is situational and positional, imo. Overall, a tight game if you want to stay and play. If you are prone to strike big, build a stack, or bust and move on... then LAG is for you. Is your first hand an AJ in EP or the SB? Makes a huge difference. There cannot be one 'absolute' answer other than committing to a particular overall 'style' of play and only YOU know what you are comfortable with. Me? I'm a nitty-TAG but only play MTT's in the 2,000+ field sizes. I'm sure there may a 90-SnG regular player with a different view.

the only bit of advice i can give is fold alot early til the blinds go up, and try to obtain as much information about the players u are seated around.. keep u head cool , cause all it takes is a few all-ins to double up ur stack quickly because other players will have recognized that u are a tight player and are more likely to fold to you... thats just the very basic basic start of 1 strategy , but it does prove to be successful more often than other styles of play..but its poker.. so switch up your game and have fun

re: Preflop strategy for online micro buy-in tourneys poker I agree with Big Nick (his quote is funny as hell-five hours of begging HAHAHAHA). I like those slow structured SnG's as well but the 180 man one on FT. They have the two dollars and 8 dollars. And the strategy I use is Harrington book one-tends to get me into the money, but you really need to win the occasional one to make it profitable. I believe Andy Bloch has a nice preflop strategy as well in Full Tilts tourney strategy guide-never read it just heard it on academy vids. Sweet.

Personally, I usually limp a lot when the blinds are small and try to accumulate some chips while its cheap to play. I'd rather play a bunch of small pots early while its still possible, and try to boost my stack before the blinds start pushing larger preflop pots. Then if all goes well I can afford the blinds easily as they go up and whoever is still at the table thinks I play a wide range of hands. The more blinds go up, the more I tighten up and start raise or fold preflop play, and with any luck people wont notice me switch gears. This is just what has worked for me in micro sngs, and by no means what everyone will consider the "right" way to play them.
