Pokerstars Steps Hi guys. I'm looking for people who have experience playing the Steps games for some advice. How tough are the different levels to beat? I have played a couple of level 1 games and two level 2 games so far (going POP on the level 2 games both times). The first step is pretty easy, but the players (in my experience) have been pretty tight, desperate to creep into the shove/fold terratory. The second step, (which i've a 0% win rate on!), seemed as easy, just more aggressive. Both times I went out to pretty weak hands and to players who just weren't afraid to gamble, shoving/callling with just about anything. I cant help thinking that they are definately beatable, and should be possible to float in after level 3 until eventually (maybe...) hitting the jackpot. I mean, there about 5 out of 9 places paid from level 3 upwards (4th and 5th usually dropping down a level, but still alive!). How deep should you be rolled to play the first stage at $7.50? Of my 2 games thus far, I have bought directly into one and won the 60 point 100 seat SnG for my other. Worth having a go at? I only play for fun, not to be rich. Might be a good chance of satelliting into some of the more desirable games without depositing much. I dont fancy my chances in the $2000+ SnG's though. lmao. Thanks all.

Oh, just a thought. I was gonna make a seperate post about this but i'll just tag it on to here. Anyone ever tried the Heads-up step challenge? I mean buying into a $2 heads up, if you win it play a $5, if you win that play a $10 etc etc etc...? I've heard of a few people trying these to kill an afternoon. I mean, it aint exactly good BRM, but just a bit of fun as long as you see that its only your original $2 buy-in at stake. Interested to see how far people have got, or if they have even tried it. Cheers.

i don't play on pokerstars at all, but i have been using the UB Steps as my primary game choice for about a month. During that time (135 games) my placement rate is at approximately 65%, with my win rate at about 40%. the best advice i can give is to play tight early, aggressively steal blinds in the mid stages and wait for others to donk themselves out with weak holdings. once you have placed, it is pretty easy to finish first or second with a wide open game.

re: Pokerstars Steps I've played these on and off. The first two levels aren't bad but since they changed them to that you could use step 4 tickets to the sunday millions level 3 has gotten tougher as lot of good players will buy right into level 3 games. Though they are still beatable. Played a couple of old tickets last month but did nothing. I won a $530(wcoop) entry with these. Good luck.

In response, Its a great way to play out of your limits at zero risk, and a bit of fun for a dull evening. If I stuck to grinding $2 Heads-up games for experience i'd go mad, there are some lunatics at those limits. I've won up to $20 games then bottled out. The $50 can be spent much more wisely than going against players who are almost certainly better than me. Lol. THAT would be throwing money away. Thats only 4 wins in a row, not too tough and not a bad investment at 2 dollars. |

These are the ones that you can't unregister for aren't they? If so I don't really like them, like you I have gone up a step, then not further than that. I can see why they don't let you unregister, I have played the 2.20 sat and unregistered a good many times and used the 11.00 tourney cash for other tourneys.

I tried it today kev and i played terribly. Didnt really lose much just some spare TD i had lying round. It was fun, I won the $2 but my problem is i just keep constantly making bad decision even though i know im making them lol. Guess thats why i suck. Good fun though and like you say a good way to try higher limits without risking much.
