Nice suprise invite from my local poker room

I just opened my mail a bit ago and I had a letter from Hollywood Poker that told said due to my standings on the 4th quarter tourney leaderboard, I was invited to play in a freeroll tourney on Feb 4th with the winner getting a trip to the WPT championship at Bellagio, a $25,000 value. Obviously it will be a decent sized field in the freeroll(maybe 100?) but just to have a shot at it is pretty cool. I cant hardly wait!

Whoa--that's really early. Some of the entrants will likely have to play through the night to be awake for this one. How many hours do you think it'll run?

Well the one here is 41 tables, and has some great action, and tourneys. It is a well run room for the most part, but at times, they can be a bit slow filling cash game tables even though the lists are 20-30 names deep. Also they have a cashier near but not in the poker room, and restrooms are also near but not in the room... this is something that Horseshoe Southern Indiana has done a better job of......they have restrooms within the poker room. Overall, it is by far, the best room in this area.

The last one was still running at 7Pm lol! It was down to just 4 or 5 people though.

FORTY ONE TABLES!?!?!?!!? Holy crap!!! Word is the new KC Hollywood is a 12 table poker room (which is a less than Harrah's or Ameristar).

First break...about average stack.....had KK,QQ twice and a few other good pairs...We are parting for.cash now though....25K....so we can.chop...189 entrants.

Not sure what you mean here, but I've been thinking about you all day!!

I was a little rushed there.. tried to type on my phone lol.... Basically, the Tournament Director said they did not have an actual seat to the WPT Final, but rather they had a check for that amount and they would presume you would use it for that, however, a chop was now a real possiblity when it got down that far due to it essentilally being 25K cash unless someone was just crazy far ahead. Ended up with 189 runners....I finished 72nd...Cant complain when you play for free really. However, there was a WTF moment when I arrived at the tourney registration area....There were 2 lines... a long one which I thought was for the freeroll(made sense) and a short one which I thought was for the daily tourney...Ummm no..lol... in Hollywood Poker's infinite wisdom, they had one line for verifying you qualified, and the second line to register for the tourney... This resulted in a line stretching from the tourney registration podium to about 30 feet out of the poker room waiting to register... All in all it was a fun time... a bit intimidating, but I was playing with some of the best players that frequent the room...some of the guys that are 2/5NL regulars, and 5/10 PLO regulars... ...but I did have fun.. it was pretty good for a freeroll tbh.

So the line was almost back to the elevators? That must have been a spectacle. Did one of the regs you know win?

Glad you had a great time. Is the WPT gig scheduled for March-April again? That's the one I know is yours this year.

Not for sure who won.... I wanted to play cash after busting out, but the wait was too long so I ended up taking off for a bit and didnt think to ask when I came back. For now, the room and tables have WPT branding, but that is supposed to go away soon...The event that had been here was moved to a property in Florida. They will have the Tristate Poker Championship March 15-25 with the Main Event being a $1600 buyin. Im sure I will try to get in on one or two of those as my schedule allows.
