MTT QUESTIONS: Just cashed over $1000... bankroll MGMT help + more? Heya guys As we all know the MTTs are way softer than cash games. Using this logic I started playing a large number of MTTs with about 150 entrants at the $30-60 buyin stakes. Well my dream finally came true and I just finished #3 and #6 in two tournies simultaneously. My acc balance is over $1100 now. Thats approx 20 buyins now. I'm not planning on cashing out unless my balance gets to 2k (i would then cash out about 1k.) Is this 1k balance enough of a roll for MTTs? I like to think that I am a solid tournament player. However I don't have a proven track record yet. Especially when the blinds have increased to about 10% of your stack and there are antes. I see loads of donk moves at any table in the tourney. Is it reasonable to expect an average of a $50 return each time I play a $50 tourney? It seems like I'd cash about 1/4 of the time so it makes sense to me. Although wouldn't that put ROI at 100% which is impossible? Thanks everyone

Many people would suggest 20 buyins is the minimum you should have to play at a given level. So you're rolled, but only barely, if you use the 20x guideline, and not rolled if you use a larger number. Also, if it took two nice cashes to get up to 20 buyins, it would seem you were playing above your roll before, assuming your full roll doesn't include money elsewhere.

re: MTT QUESTIONS: Just cashed over $1000... bankroll MGMT help + more? poker Thanks for the responses guys And so you're saying it's not possible to make an average of $50 every $50 tournament I play? So it's impossible to expect an average of +$50 every $50 tournament I play? The games seem to be really soft. People stack themselves with Ace Rag, pocket pairs below 5 all the time. Sometimes even KQs and such

--you're on a heater --100 buyins is standard for MTT play. --100% ROI is sustainable for the best MTT players in the world --variance for MTTs is insane --soft, smaller-field MTTs are pretty juicy though --it's nearly impossible to ever know your true skill level compared to the rest of the field, because the sample size of a single lifetime is not really that long --If you're not pushing with hands like Ace-rag, pairs below 55, KQ and such and worse hands every now and then, you're not making enough moves

Even with only 150 entrants you still should be having a 100buy-in BR so to play the $30-$60 you need $3k and $6k respectively. This might sound redic but seriously, you need more buy-ins, you got lucky if I'm honest unless you have been continually reloading to fund $30/$60 games I'm unsure as to how much your roll was to start with? I'm not sure of your roll, but because it sounds like it's massive increase in your roll, as you said it's "20 buy-ins" - what was you playing with before that? Even if the games are the softest, rest assured you are going to encounter prolonged periods of not cashing so be prepared to move down if you wish to continue playing $30-$60's. I'd personally be playing a maximum of $20.00 games with the roll and amount of players involved. Hell you only have 30 buy-ins for STT at the $30 level and only 15buy-ins at the $60 games and it's not uncommon for the very best of players go on swings of 20+ games. Good job on the cashes by the way, keep up the good work. Personally though in my opinion what I would do if I was you is drop to $10.00 MTT's and go from there, you will never go broke even if it's a much longer grind.

re: MTT QUESTIONS: Just cashed over $1000... bankroll MGMT help + more? poker i know im new here, but it does sound like you just got lucky and didn't lose any of the coin flips u made during the latter stages of the tournament and were able to then coast comfortably while sitting on your stack, to then recieve some premium hands to secure your spot. And if you seriously jumped straight into 30-60$ MTTs you have alot bigger cahonays then me =o
