On making notes in STTs

What notes do you make on STT players? How do you handle this subject?

I've started making notes but am finding it overwhelming so I've tried to concentrate on a few particular points.

e.g.
How often a player will call then fold to a preflop raise.
How often a player C-bets

and that kind of thing. Do you think this is the right approach? Is there a better method?

Make notes when a player does something differantly than what you would have done. Like limping too much. Raise/folding with under 10bb's. etc etc. Making notes on c-bet % is a waste of time, especially in STT where no one really gets that many opportunities to c-bet. Your better off focusing on how you think this player thinks about the game. Is he an obvious idiot? Is he an aggro maniac? Is he tight and passive? Those notes will help you a lot more than specific ones you mention (How can you really be specific with those notes anyway).

Other important ones are how often will he give you walks, will he fold his blinds too much, etc.

The only notes/information I deem necessary against people that I don't play with every single day are their HUD stats and sharkscope stats. Between the two you can make predictions relatively accurately.

If you're playing against someone over and over and over again, the best kind of notes are the ones taken after you play a hand against them. It's not necessarily the best idea to take a note when you see them do something against someone else...because you do not know the history behind their "relationship" and you cannot know if that player would have responded the same way to you.

One of the most important ones I take is how they play the bubble - do they nit up, making them a good candidate for bullying, or do they ignore the bubble and call down light? Do they bully, or are they content to just sit on a big stack?

Yeah a good note in this regard to take is if the player is capable of shoving any 2 cards. Some people are, others aren't...but again, these notes are only necessary against repeat customers.

Any other key tendencies you think are well worth noting guys? Thanks for the suggestions so far.

There are many useful things, which you can write down, to exploit it later !

For instance:

- who shoves too wide and from any position (A4 UTG)
- who always shows good hands in showdowns (tighten up your calling range, steal his blinds !)
- who limps and folds to a raise almost every time
- who limps and calls everytime, if you raise him
- who folds too much on the bubble
- who steals too much from button, cutoff, highjack
- who is a regular in these games (look at the leaderboards !)
- who is multitabling and has not enough attention
- who over-values Ax und Kx
- who calls too loose (tighten up your pushing range!)
- who tilts a lot
- who avoids "any two" pushes
- who is in gambling mood
...

I play on PokerStars - as soon as I'm seated, I tend to do a player search on each of the players at my table and make a note of anyone who is multi-tabling. I always feel that if someone is multi-tabling, their attention might be concentrated elsewhere and if they're taking ages to 'make a decision', it probably isn't because they're actually deciding what to do. Any hands that reach a showdown also spark me into action when it comes to notes - quite often I will replay the previous hand and see if there's anything worth noting down. I suppose the thing to remember with notes is that just because someone played a hand in a questionable way, it doesn't mean they do that all the time. It could be you just caught them playing uncharacteristically poorly - that kind of thing is worth bearing in mind.
