Looks like I just found my niche game! ... tips?

After going nearly belly-up at ring games two days ago and making part of it back yesterday, I found my true strength lies in 1.25 buyin 6max STTs where I can be aggro and steal tons of blinds successfully towards the end of the SNG. Small Ball poker works exceptionally well here. 6 players, Top 2 get paid.

Here are my stats for the day:
6 entrants, 1st place, 3.90 prize money
6 entrants, 6th place (QQ v AA), 0 prize money
6 entrants, 1st place, 3.90 prize money
6 entrants, 3rd place, 0 prize money
6 entrants, 3rd place, 0 prize money
6 entrants, 1st place, 3.90 prize money
6 entrants, 2nd place, 2.10 prize money
6 entrants, 1st place, 3.90 prize money
6 entrants, 2nd place, 2.10 prize money

Total: 19.90 prize money - 11.25 buy-ins = +8.65 prize money

Anyone got tips on 6max NLHE games? I've been playing nitty-TAG at the start, waiting for nuts to get a big stack. Then I bully once there's 2 (or 3 if the 3rd's very understacked) other players left.. Anyone else play these games differently?

Ps. Anyone know how big my bankroll should be if I decide to play these games regularly, provided I am following BRM..?

Stupid question, but What Is ICM?

ICM stands for Independent Chip Model and is basically a method of deciding whether or not to push/fold when shortstacked in a SNG... as is my understanding.

Perhaps WV can elaborate in the event that my explanation was wrong. In fact, WV if you can elaborate as to when ICM should implemented in the SNG (as in how many people should be left, how big should my stack be etc, who should be in the hand when I push etc), then that'd be extremely beneficial

Nice, its a pretty small model though, can hardly base a decision on 9 games. If your in profit after maybe 50, i'd say you've definately found your niche. Looks like your beating it so far. The $1 games on tilt are fairly soft most times of the day, but I just cant play them knowing that its the same rake as the next level ($2 +0.25). Should be $1+ 0.10!
Good going so far, hope you keep it up and crack these wide open!

I've googled ICM myself and read up on it, but I am still not fully in the loop which is why I asked.. My problem is with knowing when to push based on the size of the OTHER players' stacks and their actions on the hand.....

Thanks Kev I was really excited to find something I could finally crack. Thanks for the rake info, wasn't aware of that actually. What makes this harder is that I'm still not getting any rakeback as the site isn't returning my e-mails. Good to know that the 2 dollar SNGs are better value, will have to aim to get there asap. Are those games as soft as the 1 dollar STTs?

Hard to say, I dont play many low ones on Tilt these days. They used to have a pretty similar field to the $1 to be honest, maybe a little tighter but still a few muppets about throwing easy chips around.
I played the $2 matrix games quite a lot, but really just because the variance is like zero! lol. Nice tight game will see you in the money on one or more boards most of the time.
Keep chasing that Rakeback! Took me a couple of months and a trip to Pokerstars, but I got there. Tilt hate losing players! lol.

Wow, that ICM stuff has really put the starin on my brain. Is there a book that explains that stuff? Ive been looking at a review of Moshmans book but I'm not sure if they will have that kind of detail in there.

Do you know of any books that talk about MTT SnG's because I prefer the 27,,,45,,,90,,, and 180 player SnG's. Easier than MTTs but better pay (I think ) than single table SnG's?

Play the 2$ ones. Just as soft, MUCH lower rake. If you are worried about BRM, try the 2+.25 matrixes if you are comfortable multitabling. Very very beatable, and you're rolled for them with only about 15$.

I have little experience with 1+.25, but I can tell you that there are gaping holes in 80% of the players at the 2$ buyin level, the other 20% only have large holes

re: Looks like I just found my niche game! ... tips? poker

if u really want to make good my favorite is the 1.25 27 MTT....10 dollars for first pays at least double for the top 5 and a fairly easy tournament always if u focus...i do find however that if I play 3 or more at a time i lose
