Limit trny Oddity Many players don't like Limit games at all, and Limit Tourneys in general thinking they will take too long. One of the things about NLHE tournies in all the years I have been playing (7+) is that a tourney will cut the player count in half every hour. So if they are 3K players at the start, at the first break there will be 1.5k, 2nd hour 750 players...etc..etc. Obviously it breaks down at some point, but that is a pretty good description of how a NL tourney progresses. I have noticed in the Merge Horse games, all limit versions, that the game goes a lot faster. Today for example, at the first break, where 3160 players started, there are only 593 left at the first break. This is profound. By the next break, there will be under 100 players left. What is going on here?

I play the same tournaments occassionally, and the first few times I played I was shocked by the exact same thing. For some reason they actually move quicker than NL versions. I'm new to tournament play, so this surprised me as it seems counter-intuitive.

In this particular tourney, the HORSE freeroll, the blind structure is extremely steep, and it may have a large roll in why this is happening. 98 left at the 2nd break. The blinds/antes are large. Last edited by dj11 : 17th January 2012 at 6:58 PM.
