Are you just starting out in online poker? If so start at the $2+.25 SnG's and play there till you are comfortable with your play and the skill levels you will go up against. Chris Ferguson has a great Bank Roll Management course on the Full Tilt Academy, look it up and study it. It will teach you a lot about maintaining your bank roll Also if you start losing DO NOT make the mistake of trying to win it back by going UP in level, instead go DOWN till you get your game back. Study your hand histories and look for the flaws in your game. Hope this helps

The opinions go pretty much 2% - 5%, although I think 2% is the way to go. If ur winning u can always go up. I play 10 player single table to 24 player MTT SnG, and follow this rule, and it has been good for me. I do MTT as well, and use the same. Just make sure to go down in buy ins if u r on a downswing, dont try to make up for losses on a bigger buy in. U may know this already, but just sayin...:-)

re: Just deposited $150 what level of sng's should i be playing? poker Kinda depends what options you've got on the site you're playing on. Ideally you'd like to have at least 30 buy ins for the level you're playing, including rake. Personally I like to have at least 50 before I think about tackling a level but maybe I'm just a nit. With $150 you're almost but not quite rolled for $5.50 games. $3.30 would be ideal if the site you're playing offers them, otherwise $2 games. I'm assuming single-table SnGs, BTW - if you're playing multi-table ones you want a bigger cushion because the swings and gaps between decent cashes are bigger, definitely stick to the $2 games if that's the case.

If I were you I would play anywhere from $2.20 to $5.50 and would stay away from Double-or-Nothin SNGs. The $3.30 and $3.60 tournaments on Pokerstars aren't that bad. What site are you playing on?

I just think that regular SNGs, with a top three payout, help teach you to play for the "win" instead of shooting for the "prize". It's probably a weird way to look at it, I just don't really care for them. Ha. I think if you are going to play the DONs you should play them primarily and not mix them in with regular SNGs. To each his/her own, though. |

re: Just deposited $150 what level of sng's should i be playing? poker I'd start with the $2 SNG's. If you do well you'll see your bankroll increase quickly while not risking too much money on any given tournament or a bad run. I was in your spot, actually worse, a few months ago. I've about tripled from your starting point and am just now starting to work $5 SNG's into the mix. Hope that helps!

Your Bankroll safely allows you to play $5.50 SnG's. If you feel cofortable with your game and you are not new to poker, then is suggest you try this level, thwy play is soft, and if things dont go well, you can easily enough drop down to $2 SnG,s. GL

As said before I'd go with 2% of your BR for STTs and 1% for MTTs. Whether you are good or not - there will be streaks were you won't be cashing at all (we'll if you really suck it's going to be a very long streak ). You can't be too conservative with your BR - imo. -If you play well overrolled for a buy-in level it won't hurt you. -If you play underrolled you can get into serious BR problems very fast.

All the ppl here use Criss Fergusson bank roll management system. I say u have to play where u are winning at this moment. If u are not sure u can win SG that easy u must start with the lowest buy-in there is. If u think u still have to learn how to play in a SG , play at playmoney tables. Keep your bankroll intact untill u are sure u can win at SG.

If your new to online poker I think you should start at the $1 SNG's MTT's 5/10c cash tables. But if you've been around for a while and you are alright at poker than you should go from $1.10-$5.50 depending on the level you feel most comfortable at. Well in what ever you decide to do, GL and if you start losing money just go down a level or two and get it back and when your ready to go up do it.

re: Just deposited $150 what level of sng's should i be playing? poker I've seen a few people talking about the Chris Ferguson bank roll management system, if I were you I would check it out because it really works. It didn't work for me because I didn't completely follow the entire system, like many people when I lost quiet a bit of my BR I tried to get it back right away and ended up going broke. Always remember to follow his rules and do your best not to go broke. :d

5c/10c cash? double WHAT? 100 bb to sit inna cash game is the standard...so 10.00 per table...so you saying he should play at a level where he has 15 buyins? for sngs i agree with Poker O for cash you are rolled for .01 .02 if you are confident MAYBE you are rolled for .02 .05 = 5.00 per table so 30 BI...but thats DEF as high as you should be playing on cash tables with that roll if your game is good enuff for you to call 15 buyins properly rolled for a level in cash games....then you didn't need to ask where to start. |
