How To Play A Very Aggressive Player? Earlier I was playing a freeroll tournament and I'd managed to go from 2k starting stack to 5k before I was moved to another table. At that table there was a player who had somehow reached about 20k, and he was playing like crazy. He was betting 5-6bb every round with any face card-low card combination, suited connectors and/or pair and the result was I felt I could only safely play against him if I had 99 hole cards or better. My question is this, when you find yourself playing against someone like this, who's playing like crazy and he's got you well covered, generally speaking what's the best way to play? Do you just play really tight and then shove whenever you have anything worthwhile?

Tighten up starting hands and be willing to shove lighter (if stack to blinds ratio is big enough, if it isn't just 3 bet light). If blinds are still low you can probably trap them with a nice flop if they are aggresive post as well as pre. If you do hit a nice flop against them don't donk into them as they'll probably fire out on flop at least.

re: How To Play A Very Aggressive Player? poker Why not? Tighten up starting hand range and then when he is in the pot we don't hesitate to 3-bet bottom of our starting hand range. Also very unlikely that we're going to be deep in a freeroll. Blinds usually get big pretty quickly.

The problem with this type of player is that I'm prolly gonna get most, or all of the chips in the middle when I challange him. So this becomes a timing thing. If I get a monster, I'm prolly gonna want to stop and go him, so's he dosen't fold. But I'm gonna push (set the hook) when I feel a jiggle on the line. His chips are worth much more to me than him. Unfortunatly, this kinda guy can hit with junk. Leading to your next thread... "How do I deal with tilting?" -- -

Well, there are 9 players on the table. I figure people will take their shots at him, so I just wait patiently for that AA, KK, or QQ. If this is early in the game, you can afford to wait 45 minutes. He or you, will be transferred to another table soon enough. Then there is big stack bias, which states no matter what you have in your hand, he will beat you if you decide to go in.

re: How To Play A Very Aggressive Player? poker Personally being very aggro myself I find many of the players who eventually figure me out and beat me are the ones who trap well. I can usually tell when someone is trapping against me, but many aggressive players, especially in freerolls are not thinking on higher levels...imo. PF play I agree with baudib1. Don't re-raise light, get to the flop as cheap as possible with hands that you can trap with...
