Good play or bad play? I have been playing poker for about a year and have been reading about strategy everywhere and anywhere i can find it. Trying to find my leaks and improving my game is my objective which leads me to a hand i played yest night at a live tourney. This is live a mtt and the first table im playing at the table has its loose and tight mix. I see this guy over raising hands like Q4 and re raising a 3 bet all in with Q10 vs the other player and winning etc. His showdown hands werent very strong at all. we move to a different table and i continue to play my game. so heres the situation: me and this guy are both in middle position with him to my right. Blinds are 300-600 i have about 7k in chips and he has about 6k. He raises 3k. I look down at AJo And based on his showdown range i figured his hand wasnt too strong, so i shoved with folds all around and he calls. we turn them over and he shows a pair of tens. At this point im feeling pretty confident till the flop has 10 x,x..in conclusion he takes the pot down with his set with no help from the A on the river. So i guess my question is based on my reads was this a good call or bad? should i have waited for a better spot?

re: Good play or bad play? poker This is quite ok to re-shove with anyone with only 11 blinds remaining other the the most tightest of players who you think might have A,Q+ ranges..but even this with 10 blinds left, you might be shoving anyway because you will be shoving worse most times with an even smaller stack. Flipping is standard at these points and and A,J is a monster with only 10blinds left with all the dead money out there. Against this player by the way, it's 100% the correct play, in later position I'd be shoving him all in with A,6+ any pairs etc.

re: Good play or bad play? poker Against this type of player you have no fold equity, but you have his range crushed, the bet sizing is odd so he may be trying to induce, but given the hands you said he is showing down with some of his inducing hands we may have dominated, players that play q4 and other trash treat KJ J10 JQ A10 etc as gold pre.make sure you note the type of hands he bets different sizes with for later. Nice hand
