Good morning all I'm wonder where I'm going wrong I play 15/20 tourneys a week one every day during the week and 4/5 each day of the weekend I can cash in appx. 12 if i play 20 but seem too get knocked out by weaker junk hands in later stages of the tourneys I'm thinking that I need too loosen up abit but when I try this I seem too lose 1/5 of my stack too other junk hands any advice I'm not trying too bluff with nothing I always try to have at min middle and bottom pair when tring too steal pots because I know lot of chasers cant lay down top pair or A high?

bluff on draws, get it in with TPTK and be more selective about which opponents you bluff. Key question to ask yourself, am I going to last long enough to get a better spot than this, will I have enough chips to capitalize when that spo arrives?

all i can say is you cant escape the donk......ive lost to poket 3s when i had bullets ....ive lost to tens when i had bullets ive lost to king jack when i had jacks .............if you ask me in later stages you just have to pray ...pray damit...............Oh and i can ttell you how many times late in a tourney I get that warm fuzzy feeling you get when u peek at two Ks then get that jack high flop and bet off your whole stack by the time you get to river to see some bullets.......best advice is avoid all ins pre flop with any twocards even aces you have to be able to fold aces..might sound stupid but I think youll feel more stupid being crippled or busted losing with aces...

The easy formula is to play the opposite of what your opponents are playing. This means stealing a lot on the bubble and tightening up after the bubble.
Sometimes there are runs where you just get felted by worse hands over and over, this is when you need to look at your play and determine if the problem is the way that you play or if you just are getting unlucky. Even if you determine that you got unlucky you should be thinking how you can improve your game to minimize the effect that luck has on your placing in the tournaments because there is almost always a better way or atleast you are opening up yourself to the other options you have, which leads to a better understanding of why your play was correct. |

Are you sure you cash in as many as 12 out of 20 ? That is unusually high. Do you keep records, or is that a guess ?
If it is accurate, you must be playing too conservatively. Take more chances to build a larger stack and go deeper in the game. This will mean that you will cash less often, but will earn more when you do cash. |

re: Going deep in tourneys poker
It sounds to me like you are probably a fairly tight conservative player for the most part, and when you near the end of the tournament you dont have enough chips to really make a run at winning a tournament.
i would say, for tournament poker that an aggressive route throughout the tournament is advisable to attain a big chip stack then start busting opponents with less than marginal hands.. i have adopted a small ball approach to tournament play, basically it involves me seeing a lot of flops, raising and betting but used properly it allows me to steadily increase my stack without taking significant risks. |

12 out of 20 cashes seems way too high. I dont think those are proper figures and you should probably record your stats over a very lnog period of time to determine exactly how many you are winning. With regards to late in the tournament, try to stay extremely aggressive on the bubble. Obviously players are much more tighter around this area of the tournament than anywhere else. This is the best time for you to get some chips and set yourself up for a big run to the final table and possibly even a bracelet
