As we all know, tournament poker is a game we play to win. So when it comes time to play in this tournament, in 10 minutes, I am wondering what adjustments I should be making for playing to cash only. It pays top 10% (1 in 10), which used to be 1 in 5 when it was bodog. Top 20% used to be a cruise, as I have cashed 8 of 10 of these, but Ive only cashed 2 of 4 since the top 10% format. Perhaps im doing something wrong. Im gussing protecting a big chip lead is where its at in the middle stages. Heck a couple times Ive gotten so many chips I clicked sit out just so I knew I would cash. Its been almost a year since i've played in one of these, I got a ticket a couple weeks ago but the email went to my spam folder and it expired. I called bovada and as a 1 time exception they gave me a new ticket to this tourney, I LOVE Bovadas customer service and they are timely and efficient on cashouts, making it my favorite site to play online. If anyone wants to railbird me, im player 004.

BTW for those who dont know, the prize for this tourney is a ticket to tommorows sunday 100k, a $150+12 entry normally. Ive played in that 8 times, cashing 7 times, with my best finish being 22nd of 778 players

Actually using something resembling a strategy on Bovada will get you banned. They want all their customers to play like clueless fish. Think at your own peril.

I love bovadas customer service as well. It seems like wvery time I have an issue or question about anything, they're always there to assist. I would rate them high on their prffesionalism and time of response. Every time I email them (no matter what department it goes to) I not only receive a confirmation of my email but also hear back from them in little time. Not to mention, you can also call them.

I've played a few lucky draws and some success. You must be a really good player for placing in 7 of 8! Good for you! = ) my strategy is to just make the cut lol.

I think it's great that bovada offers the option to people that normally wouldn't buy-in to the 100k to win a seat for free. I give them two thumbs up for that!

Am I to understand this is a satellite to a larger tourney? then yes, if you build a big stack early it is your job to protect that stack. but I wouldn't recommend actually sitting out.

First of all, if players see you are sitting out they will attack your blinds with impunity (which maybe seems like it's notthat bad for you, but it is good for them and so by definition anything that is good for your opponent is bad for you).

I would "pretend" to sit out and only call raises and jams with monsters. Don't call off big or medium stacks with hands like AK or TT, but you can raise with them. you can call short stack jams with hands like AK or TT but only if doubling them up won't put you in too much danger.

In addition, I would try to occasionally steal from tight passive players and people who seem overly concerned with cashing. unless you truly have a gigantic stack that has no danger of blinding out....but that is not usually the case. usually even if you amass a stack that would be "average" at the time the bubble bursts, it will slowly erode to the point that you're in danger of blinding out if you don't steal some blinds every couple of orbits.

Solid advice my friend, although I was dumb as heck and had AK vs AA the 3rd hand in, and when my K hit (I didnt 3bet preflop to find out better info on my opponents hand, handicapping myself considerably) I just couldnt fold. So dumb of me, but being a freeroll I just couldnt fold. Heck the guy could have easly had 2 pair etc, but I busted out very quickly. Was left with 30 chips with blinds 20/40, and I got back up to 400, but still lost to A3 with AJ.....
