| Blinds Jumps I've recently found myself in the following situation quite a few times, and am wondering what the good people of this forum usually do when in a similar position: I'm in a 45 man SnG, on the bubble. I'm playing aggressively, stealing blinds and trying to push the other scared players around; but the cards just haven't gone my way and I've lost a few pots, so I'm sitting on around $4500 in chips when the blinds are at 100/200. Basically I'm sitting at the table with a comfortable M of > 20, playing smart but aggressive poker. But then the clock starts to tick and the next blind jump approaches, which would punch the blinds up to 200/400, instantly putting my M at near 10 which I think most of us can agree is pretty much push or fold. How do you navigate this jump which basically takes you from a position where you can carefully pick your spots and make smart PF raises to one where you have to push or fold for your tournament life? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance Best of luck, T. |

| Being aware of it is the first step. So you are ahead of the curve there. An M of 10 is not critical, it isn't good but you can still carefully pick your steal spots and wait for a good cards. Sounds like you maybe a bit too aggressive early but I am no pro so who knows. Early on you should be playing really tight unless a great implied odds situation arrises, this will help keep you out of sticky situations and gain you more respect later when you need it. All that being said if you are playing microstakes no one is paying attention and most of the players are monkey on crack anyway. Sometimes you can do everything right and still lose, that is why I moved to cash games. Less variance. |
