big field tourneys on stars

Hey guys

I play the small stakes tourneys on stars like $3 - $8 on stars but the fields are so big
i am battling to make a deep run even if i play good i think.I play good in the early stages till almost when we cash but blinds get so big i battle to play my best when every one tightens up.
I have like 15-20bb and cant play loose so what i do then?
Any advise how to play from here??
Any strategy on 15bb-20bb stack play and 22-30bb play and 40bb,50bb??

Look for some cap games, eg. $8 500 cap. The smaller fields in these will make it easier to go deep more often.

As for how to play different stack sizes, with 15-20bbs, you should be looking for spots to get your stack in over late position opens or with limpers in the pot. Just look to take advantage of the tendencies of your opponents. Shove a tighter range if they're loose and likely to call wide etc.

If a raise will commit you to the pot, just shove instead of a standard open unless you have a monster and there's a donk behind you likely to re-raise. Kinda general stuff here but hope it helps.

What Bluffy said- there's the $8s as well as $4 and $5 caps. Maybe move over to FTP where there's loads of small field stuff. Anything from 100 runners and up as well as 90man bounty games which are soft.

There could be few reasons why you are not getting deep.

Here are few:
1.You think you play well but you are playing poorly.
2.You play too tight.
3.Tournament variance.

I would guess it's #1 and #2. In order to fix #1 you need to work on your game, start from reading a good tournament book so you can at least learn about your options based on stack sizes. I know you play too tight because you just said that when everyone tightens up you can't be playing loose because you got 15-20bb. This is actually a very good stack to put pressure on people and you need to start doing so. Stop being worried that you will bust. If you want to win a tournament stop playing like you just want to survive and start playing like you want to accumulate chips so that you can reach final table with a good stack...

If you tend to have below average chips when you get into the late stages of tournaments, you might want to look at how you play the middle stages where, if you can accumulate a little better, you won't be (as) short later on.

When you get close to the money everybody will start playing tighter. Try to steal blinds and play more hands from late position. Also if your bankroll is big enough try to play to win and not just cash and you will do a lot better in the long run. When I played at pokerstars I would see people completely change their strategy when we got close to the money and they would end up loosing or min cashing.

when ur in between 15 and 20 big blinds i would reccomend being prepared to go all in with any hand you chose.i just shove with any two good cards AQ-AK pocket pairs cutoff button etc.and hope they think im trying to steal,hence call me with some crappy ace garbae type.i never allow myself to go below 15 bb.its way out of my comfort zone in MTT's.
