Bad Timing in MTT's

In MTT's -- Two different ops. Same type of problem.

How often do you guys Play the Player (maniac) and not your Cards. I mean do you often call with KTo out of position - for example - just because the other guy is a maniac? Do you change your game to try and get just as lucky as him? ----OR---- Do you call an all-in with AJo because someone that is pounding on your blinds - When they haven't had to show a hand in an hour? This player has been mostly tight aggressive for two hours. The reason I ask is obvious. Isn't patience going to pay-off against this?

I would say wait for a premium hand to call him and take his chips. In the mean time, try to steal the blinds and antes on the button and in the cutoff to keep your stack healthy

yea i would have to agree with gold on this one wait for a premium hand, cus i have tried calling with marginal hands and they always seem to have the better hand or even when i have the better hand like a q vs ace 5 they alway seem to catch that 5 and beat me out anyways maybe im just unlucky idk

I think the patience will pay off. If he shows down a hand, pay attention to what he did preflop, etc, etc. If he is super-aggressive on others, I'm sure he'll get over aggressive one you when you have a hand worth calling. He'll get called down by someone eventually, maybe you'll learn something from it.

By the way, I just went out because I called an all in with AJ for this specific reason. So I had to take a step back and think about it. That's what I came up with.

I did the same thing myself yesterday. I had ATo in BB and the guy raising every hand - stealing - raised my BB from 800 to 2400. I pushed to make him fold and he called with 99. It was the first time I pushed the whole game. He snap called for about 3/4 his stack on the bubble. Which means I was the bubble boy. LOL

Their bets are protected by a good hand 3 out of 7 to 10 times. You guess which 3 ...

Tight play will payoff in most cases but you also have to loosen up a bit when blinds get up there.

Last night i was in a $2 tourney on PS, i played tight for most of the tourney and was doing good staying in the top 20 thru most of it. However in the end it hurt more than helped, when blinds got up to 7500/15k players were raising alot just to steal the blinds, i couldn't get a hand. When i finally got 66 and was down to 11x's BB i went all-in, chipleader had over 800k and called with 109os, he hit a 10 on the turn, i was out in 17th.

My point is this....no matter how we play there is always a risk factor, loose players often hit on the flop when they shouldn't have called due to crappy hole cards. Tight play works until the blinds get up there and we are forced to play hands that we would normally fold.
