| All the books I have read = 2 questions I'm just wondering what you think. All the MTT books I have read have have been catered toward a tight/aggressive strategy. I have cashed in a few tournaments with that strategy but I haven't been able to pull off anything remarkable. Basically I have two questions. 1. Is it wrong for me to fold AA pre flop on the button with two people all in during the first round of a major 10k event? 2.If I just arrived at a new table and I missed the flop after raising with AQo would taking a second stab on the turn be pure gambling? |

2. wouldnt call it pure gambling, dependent on buy in, stack sizes, position board texture, turn card. |

| Gotta wonder what books you have read but, #1 - My guess is not one of the authors of those books would advocate folding here under any circumstance. Will you make an early exit or be crippled doing this? Almost 30% of the time you run into it. But, that's very good poker odds. #2 - Yes it would, so the question is should you do it? There Hillbilly is right. For example it would depend a great deal on the cards that were flopped. If the flop is 962 rainbow, is anyone really going to believe you hit that after raising preflop and repping two big cards. It's going to come off as a C-Bet and the guy holding 78 is going to want to see another card. |

| #2 - I'll tell you this - probably the biggest factor for me on whether to take a stab at the pot in this situation is going to be the read I have on my opponent. If he's anything but a tight player, I have to give the option of checking and giving up the hand much more weight. In other words - yes it's a gamble so you pretty much want to do it with a player who doesn't like to gamble and avoid it if the guy just came from the roulette table to play some poker. |
