***Advantageous August Tournament Chat Thread*** August is here! How was everybody's July and what is everybody's goal in August? My July was alright but I didn't get to play half as much as I wanted. I had to go through Carbons security verification process and I didn't get to play for about 2 weeks. I passed that though and I am now back playing. Some goals of mine in August. *My current bankroll on Carbon is $152.86 (withdraw a big chunk of my roll last week.) At the end of the month I am going for a bankroll of $350 or higher. *215 games (mtts and sngs combined) *Post more of my tricky hands on here Hopefully this thread stays more active than July's.

Not even 2 pages last month thread, so hopefully this month people get back. After my sad stepback to only have a BR of $50 because need to cashout most of my roll, happy to say that manage to go up to $100+ so back to my 18man games , only $1.50 but still is a positive thing (no more 45man, yuk). Pokerstars anounce today the VIP MONTH, for me means that to keep Silverstar need only 75vpps (750vpps before) but i think can manage to stay with my 750vpps by month wich not only can reach Goldstar this month but PlatinumStar playing $1.50´s? Even when probably can´t keep Platinum after next month if vpps come to normal still mean will have a 2.5xfpps all September, so is wort it. So August goals. - 800 games/$1.50 18man (wich will give me enough for the 750vpps need it). -Reach Platinum Star - Profit gl all.

Yeah, the PS promotion makes it very tempting to crank up the volume again, but I'm finding that is just not my preferred style. So hopefully I can get my 75 points playing the Sunday Storm sats, which I have been enjoying at the end of this month. I also like the regular-speed 27-seat SNGs. Hoping thru these I can maintain/build BR, and find some time on weekends to enter a few larger MTTs.

August is starting off good with my 5$ Rebuy win on Intertops for 556$. I have a roll of a little over 600$ on there now so i should be playing many tournaments within the days of my leave and return to the US....Almost home! Goals for August is: 2k in profit (only due to low traffic and gtds.) No cash (cus i suck at cash) Run good

Tough run, dawggie -- you've had some good runs in the past though, so I'm sure you'll turn it around!! I've decided to alternate $3.50 27-seats and $2.20 sats -- figure if I do that 20 times I bust my Silver Star Of course, tonight I have a near irresistable urge to take down the $1 turbo rebuy.........

@KC, Grats for the $500+ , i think min. cashout in cake network is $500 so maybe time to try to take some out now that still can?. @OZ, Glad for you man, will be really a pain if you still have the worm for play and can´t find any place that make you feel the rush!! @Dawg, That sucks man, but you run really well last month, hang in there. @Shufflin, How the 27 sits are now?, i used to play those in Fulltilt couple years back but for some reason never try it in Stars. they don´t have much buzz probably the reason never try it there. @LAB, Grats for the deep end, yes, in general Sits are harder now than time back and surely more harder in Stars than any other site, still beatable tough. First couple days of month been good for me. aug1-2.jpg (http://www.cardschat.com/attachment.php?s=cd6f32ddd3502e7e3946205e1ce32d9d&attachmentid=39153&d=1312338917) Good vibes for the rest of the month!!

The one thing I hate about the 27-seat SNG is that the break is 1 hour after the start, rather than at 5 minutes to the hour, like the larger tournaments. Hard to say in general how the competition is -- seems to vary day-to-day. Not noticing too many regs when I play though (ie players for which I already have notes)

There are not really online tournaments that suit me anymore. As far as online goes I am only playing in Cardschat events. I will still be going to Vegas but probably not as often. I think I went 5 times last year - it will be 4 this year and probably only 3-4 next year. I did find a local poker league to play in however. So I am playing in it 2-5 times a week and it is fun. Most of the players have no clue how to play - they understand the cards and the game - some of this have been doing this league for quite a while. But they have no clue about good poker strategy. They are shocked when I shove a lot with less than 7-8 big blinds lol. The top 3 win bar tabs in the place we are playing - $50-$25-$10. The final table (8) gets points. Each session is 15 weeks long and at the end there is a $1500 cash tournament for the top 25 - pays 3 places. But the reason I am playing - the top 100 qualify for a tournament that gives away a WSOP Main Event package. They also have a tournament for the top 200-300 and the the top 25 in that one get to play in the WSOP tournie - so it has 125 in it. So 3 times a year I will get a chance to compete for the Main Event. Hope to play in the first one this Saturday.

Played in a 400 guaranteed dollar dazzler today, played good and was hitting some good cards for most of the tournament. 150 started in it, were down to 40 or so and I was in 5th in chips. Then this happen. NL Hold'em Tournament, 750/1,500 Blinds, 150 Ante, 9 Players LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter MP2: 15,887 CO: 101,065 Hero (BTN): 37,853 SB: 37,303 BB: 23,910 UTG: 16,937 UTG+1: 7,080 UTG+2: 20,564 MP1: 20,829 Pre-Flop: (3,600) Ac Ad dealt to Hero (BTN) 6 folds, Hero raises to 3,000, SB folds, BB raises to 23,760 and is All-In, Hero calls 20,760 Flop: (49,620) Ah 5h Jh (2 Players - 1 is All-In) Turn: (49,620) Jd (2 Players - 1 is All-In) River: (49,620) 7d (2 Players - 1 is All-In) Results: 49,620 Pot Hero showed Ac Ad and LOST (-23,760 NET) BB showed Jc Js and WON 49,620 (+27,360 NET) That put me like 35th out of 40 but got dealt pocket Kings like 3 hands later and doubled up which put me right in the middle of the pack. Then we were down to 18, I was I think 12th in chips. UTG+1: 74,709 MP1: 147,433 Hero (MP2): 34,240 CO: 89,571 BTN: 22,676 SB: 12,880 BB: 27,638 UTG: 40,905 Pre-Flop: (7,200) Qh Ah dealt to Hero (MP2) 3 folds, MP1 raises to 12,000, Hero raises to 33,840 and is All-In, 2 folds, SB calls 8,480 and is All-In, MP1 calls 21,840 Flop: (83,360) 7s 3c As (3 Players - 1 is All-In) Turn: (83,360) Qc (3 Players - 1 is All-In) River: (83,360) 8s (3 Players - 1 is All-In) Results: 83,360 Pot MP1 showed 8c 8h and WON 83,360 (+49,520 NET) Hero showed Qh Ah and LOST (-33,840 NET) SB showed Js Jc and LOST (-8,480 NET) I finished in the money but all it was $4 and some change. I have been coming back up some the past two days but still having some rough luck.

Help with this hand, please. Maybe bet less in flop (200-210), at the time think in jam turn with the cheap bet from sb but utg call pre, call flop and call turn so decide to just call, sb checking in river tell me that he was full of **** like i think but utg betting 1/3 tells me im probably beat because he is AF:1.2, so... [ ] UTG have AQ and even if jam turn im beat / PFR:13 so probably not. [ ] UTG have A7 and even if jam turn im beat / Vpip:39 so canīt say no. [ ] UTG have AJ and thatīs why he bet in river when hit his 2 pair. (probably raise this preflop?) [ ] UTG Have QJ and same like above (but this one will not raise pre) [ ] UTG have Q7s/74s (i mean is a $1.50 so who knows) [ ] trips?. [ ]non have **** How should be played?, jam turn?

In addition, there might be an argument for limping pre, rather than raising, although I do think my default would be to raise. |

Thanks CJ, yea, makes sense, i should jam turn. Agree with you also about the limping, i usually do if are utg/utg+1 (some times with my entire range) but donīt like to limp from MP/LP in general (depends on table and blinds of course), but yes, you are right. Miss you in the topic man, how things are for you this days?.

Ever have a day when you somehow KNOW you are going to play bad? I kept one of my Sunday Storm entries, and first hand I'm dealt QQ. Shoulda just shoved and let the gods decide. I liked how I played it, but the Ace comes on the turn and my donkey reraises me on the river. Suddenly I'm half-stacked, semi-tilting, and know I am gonna make some bad plays from here on out. Managed to walk away from that one, but my Satellites haven't gone much better today. Hopefully another rotation of the earth brings me a fresh mindset...

1st week of August has been rough for me. It's been harder than I thought it would after I made the withdraw...defiantly not use to this small of a roll to play with. I should be playing $1 and $2 games but I find myself playing $5 games a lot. Really gonna watch my brm this week. Also I logged into my sportsbook account for the first time in months last night...gonna try to build up a few bucks off funsteps just so I can gamble with it when college football and the nfl come, which won't be long. Played in 6 funstep 1's tonight and got 4 tickets too funstep 2.

And the cooler continues...these past 10 days I have lost the majority of hands where it was 50/50 or I was a 60 or 70 percent favorite when I got it in and it has been 50/50 whenever I am a 75 or 80 percent favorite. Just got put of a mtt, my A J lost too A 8 lol. I have quit sngs, I gave that up yesterday morning...I go on tilt too easy when I play sngs, which is another reason why my roll is getting thin. Good news is my withdraw should be approved in the next 2 or 3 days.

Hey guys I am back ! Tried cash (actually ended up 1 bi total, but went on a huge downswing), but I am back to my passion, MTTs. I am on Bodog and while there isn't a lot of tournaments, the structures are nice. I have ~$230 so I will be playing $1-$7 tournaments (maybe throw in a $10 one occasionally). Hoping to start on the high end of variance to get a BR that would be willing to sustain these buy-ins. Well wish me luck !
