Adjust SPRs down in Tournies? Something to consider, due to high blinds and the large stack to pot ratios that are often seen in the late stages of MTTs and turbo SNGs, I feel all SPRs need to be adjusted down in tournaments. If this has been discussed elsewhere let me know. On to things. Blinds 20/40, 1100 effective. If we go to the flop with 1000 behind in a 200 pot, a line of 2/3pot-2/3pot-1/2pot would put us all in. 135+320+550=~1k If you flop TP in a tourny do you really want to see that line? Probably not. Note also that we cross the threshold just by calling the flop bet. A little cbet you make to pull the pot sets us up to play for stacks. How can we apply SPR theory to tournaments effectively? What kind of SPRs are we shooting for with different types of hands?

From what I remember of the book that talks about SPR theory, it revolves mostly around committment to the pot. In tournaments there are lots more times where you need to make an aggressive steal to keep afloat due to the rising blinds/antes. I don't see any problem with making a bet that makes you look committed, in order to steal a pot. That is, as long as you KNOW you aren't committed when you make that bet. Too many times I see people make aggressive continuation bets, then decide they should call the opponent's all in with ace high. Not always a bad plan against some opponents, but shooting from the hip like that can get you in big trouble.

i only hear of SPR in a ring game context. when in the tourneys people mostly use the M. and if 1/3 to 1/2 your chips are in your pretty much comitted. as i see it the problem with SPRs in a tourney is there are so many factors that come into play in a tourney that effect your comittment desitions. my main thing is <13BBs fold or shove. i really dont even consider SPRs at all playing tourney just how many BBs i'll have if i fold, win, or lose.
