live torney 70 runners heads up
blinds 30k 60k
hero 300k
villain 300k
villain has been playing a strong game and capable of laying down semi strong hands in the late game with 3-5 oponents left .
First hand of headsup hero pics up A4s and pushes in.
With the blinds to stack ratio so high there is no other play , all agree?

No offence but i'd like to know how you got headsup without knowing basic shoving ranges.

no offence taken , the torney is at the local casino in perth australia, the competition is moderete with some really good players , so I would say that I got there through good decision making. Heads up is not the strongest part of my game however I think I know basic shoving ranges, heads up Im looking at any ace , probably any K depending on stack size and two picture cards in most cases. Not too shore about suited conectors but am asuming that with a really short stack id be pushing also. The point of the thread was to get an idea of how everyone else plays and thinks heads up. I think the opinions of other players are are great way to hone your own game so thankyou for your suggestions :)

!! This pretty much.

You have 5 blinds left, any two cards you should really be shoving with here and picking up A,6 in this spot is like picking up a pair of aces.

If villian is calling 100% of the time, you can profitably shove 66% of your hands.
That looks like:
22+,A2+,K2+,Q2+,J3+,J2s+,T6+,T3s+,97+ and much more.

If villian calls 48% (J8,Q5, K2 etc) of the time or less you can shove any two cards profitably.

Thanks for this i didnt relize , the range was so wide , how about if stacks were deaper say 10-20bb , should I be also raising this wide or pushing . 20 bb seems like alot especially if your oponent has also 20bb ? I mean I would have no problem pushing 20bb if I was shorts stacked compared to our oponents, but what if the stacks are even?
Could you also suggest what range we are looking at 3 handed ?
thanks heaps

yea good shove. the blinds are soo incredily huge compared to chip stacks. Your not open folding, so go all in and hope he didnt wake up with a monster :p even if he did your still live and not that much of an underdog, you more then likeyl have the best hand. good shove and good pot. Did you end up winning the tourney?
Let me know

Just got into an argument with a buddy who couldn't believe I shoved Q5o at heads up of the tail end of a tourney last Wednesday and thought I should not have done that
