$1.00rebuy on pokerstars is biggest donkfest EVER

Now, please advise before I'm blinded out. I've played one hand so far, in all-preflop doubled up. I can't get in ANY pot because EVERY pot is all-in and everyone and no joke is shoving every hand, literally 5 all-ins at least in every pot since it's started. So it's turbo, how long do I sit back for in this joke of a tournament? I will never play in one of these again. They are worse than freerolls and play money, no joke this is this is the WORSE poker game I've ever witnessed. Everyone starts at 3k chips, 15minutes in, biggest stack = 65k big lol?

Check these screenshots and the times it started and all the hand history I've witnessed so far at my table.

ADVICE PLEASE!!!!!! Its' turbo so can't exactly wait to long..

$1k gtd. 2300 entries. extended reg:60mins 4500+ rebuys, prize pool currently 6.5k. 20minutes into the tournament, cant get in a single pot still, game is daft. 90 minutes of unlimited rebuys available, I've no chance have I? lmao.

Yeah I did just that..I waited and got rewarded with a A,K, all-in with 5 others, lost to two pair. Didn't bother rebuying I didn't think it was very profitable even going in as a favourite at best of times is hard to avoid varience in MTT's a lot, let alone when you're faced with 5 people.

I'd avoid the 3x turbos anyway, whatever the buyin. All the value is in waiting until the addon, because it's the same price, so you have to max out time bank, fold a lot, etc...

you can't be patient in that game. if people are getting it in 5 ways allin... call with almost any 2 broadway, suited or connected or pairs - you are getting the right proce for almost any two cards as it is.

Rebuys where people get nutty you have to gamble - or play a freezeout.

Be patient, plenty of spots with 15BB or less where you can exploit any push/fold edge because they'll be calling way too wide, don't get it in with no edge/tiny tiny edges.

idk Pascal.. that $1r/a Turbo on Stars is pretty nuts (tried it only once). I'd say bonfluzi has the right idea for this one.

And yah, ramdeebam, that tourney is complete & total insanity.

For a micro rebuy, try the $2 1r/1a or 2r/1a (there's a 1r/1a on there (~21:45est) that gives you 6,000 chips for the addon... making for deepstack play after the addon & a bit of a Marathon but you should be able to exploit alot of the players in it).

@ bonfluzi - and if your broad-2wqway cards lose? Just leave? I'm unsure if this tournament was very profitable because, someone double rebuyed 20+ times or more maybe at $2.00 a time. He was the worse player, was in every hand and even at some point he had a massive stack when blinds were still low yet still insisted on going all in every hand till his stack was gone. He must of spend $50.00 in all the time I was there, after my A,K lost blinds was already 400 I think so I didn't think it would be wise and most likely mega tilt me if I kept losing buy-ins so quickly - I'v done that costly mistake in a FPP turbo rebuy before spend like 500 fpp's lol.

@ pascal: That's how I thought might of been the best way but by the time I got a hand it didn't really stand much chance. I think Aces might of struggled lol.

Double rebuy obviously. Don't enter rebuys with a single bullet

Yeah under normal circumstances I would, not an issue. Just this table dynamic, if you would of seen it - wow..you would be very surprised. It wasn't any exaggeration when I said every hand had at least 3 all-ins pre flop. The whole hand history from my 45minutes there, every single pot when I checked through had 3+, on average 5 all-ins. I just couldn't see as profitable.

Wait for a good hand, quadruple up, wait for a good hand, triple up again , if you lose double rebuy and start again, you get 90 mins to gain a huge stack and advantage over the idiots when the rebuy period ends

That was my intentions, but because of the turbo aspect, i doubled up once towards the beginning. By the time I got A,K I had 5500 stacks, people had 30k, blinds were at 60 near enough. Would of meant shoving nearly ATC as I didn't have many BB's left and just thought I would be constantly double rebuying at $2.00 a pop for 6k chips and having to shove with ATC anyways. Just didn't feel comfortable with it, had a bad feeling and thought I could of took a huge chunk of my BR lol.

That's the problem with 3x turbos, getting so short towards the addon period doesn't matter so much cos the addon is so big!

Keep in mind that "good hand" is largely based on the conditions you'd be playing that hand in. If players were routinely spewing any semi-reasonable hand and pots all had 3+ AI's then your standards can (should) decrease by a LOT. I mean...you wait for AKo to get it in with ~35-40% equity in a 4-way pot. In such pots you can profit with hands that have only 26% equity. This opens up lots of suited connectors, PP's, etc. that you can profitably ship in preflop. You actually cost yourself a great many chips by trying to play really tight because the equity you need for profit applies to a much wider range. In addition, when you do get a monster hand you don't have as much equity as you really want because there are 2-3 other runners against you.

tl;dr - loosen it up a good amount during rebuy periods (at least for the unlimited rebuy tourneys) or play freezeouts.

I've played this a few times. It's a really fun game IMO. I played 2 nights ago, doubled bought in about 7 times and busted just after add on, kept having good cards crushed all through the rebuy period. Played it last night, one double buy in at the beginning, had 50k by add-on by playing about 4 hands, plus the 30k add on, got up to 100k with an M of around 8, shoved AQ to a raise and call got called by K6o for 90% of his stack and he hit 6. Not much one can do there.

Getting suited connectors in is silly because suited connectors are good due to the fact they play well post flop, not because they are strong preflop. You're better off getting off high cards in like A7+, KT+

it's all about equity...3-4 handed the SC's will often have enough equity against the various ranges that showing up to be profitable. The same can be true of A7+/KT+ but in those cases domination becomes more of an issue and you lose big hand potential. The x% of equity a SC gains from its ability to make straights and flushes doesn't diminish much as the # of players goes up whereas the high card value of a hand does.

Regardless, you're not worried about busting during the rebuy period. If you're sitting on a double-rebuy stack and your table is full of lunatics you have a fairly simple task: figure out if your hand has enough equity to ship (usually means ~25-35%). If so you should be getting your chips in because suddenly folding is -EV, even to preflop shoves.

These tournaments sound like a riotous bit of fun gambling and a full-on luck-fest. OK if you like that sort of thing but if you want to play poker - go elsewhere?

You could 10x double rebuy.... the blinds go up HUGE in no time.. I mean "HUGE".
I too couldn't f'n believe that tourney. I mean I figured, "yah.. ok.. turbo.. rebuy... $1 totally insane.. no problemo. I've got a great shove/fold/resteal shove game. This should be good.. or at least fun? It wasn't. It was the absolute shits aka 'a huge waste of time'.
