You know like chasin' them flush draws too!

How do you guys like to play Flushes? There's so many ways to do it just thought I'd get your thoughts.

I mix up my opening bets from 2 to 5 times the blinds. It isn't much is what I'm dealt as it is my position on the table is what determines my range and then my opening bet. I don't like to call to much when I'm actually going to play something so I always like to be 1st outta the shoot. Ace + anything suited, King + anything suited I'm in on a call 10 outta 10 times unless there's a ridiculous bet and depending on the situation I'll 3 bet it sometimes too just to get some of the swayers to sway away from my pot. Sometimes I'll play low suited connectors, especially in late position or in the blinds. It all depends on the table but I like the whole pre flop game when you commit to the flush.

What do you guys like to do when you get a Flush draw and someone bets into the pot. Or you hit a flush on the turn going for something else ect... How do you guys like playing "them's flushies"?

I dont chase flushes unless its very early stages in the tourny and I have AXs late position and its unraised, or I'm in the big blind and can check to see a flop. Otherwise I dont bother.

If I get the flush draw on the flop and I have position with all checks to me, I might raise to try and take the pot if I know my opponents are tight. The only other time I would raise here is to throw off the fact that I have a flush draw or to prevent my opponent from betting if I think they have an okay hand but I dont want them to raise me out. If my opponent folds I profit, if they call I profit if I hit, and I get info on if they do have a hand, and if they reraise, I'm probably folding unless I think I can double up off of them.

Its dangerous to chase flushes, even if I technically know how to play them, I'm not surprised sometimes when I defy my own rules and it backfires on me. It's not really good poker strategy to do it a lot, most of the time its just not going to be profitable.

Btw, for cash I have no idea. I suck at cash so i dont know with great accuracy how chasing flushes works there.

Haha i have to agree, its always like "okay... he's shoving all in when I have the king high flush... I'll call, he cant possibly hav- OMG WTF. HOW DOES HE HAVE THE ACE HIGH FLUSH?!!?" but come on, what else are people going to shove with readily on a flushy boardd?

I went out in the CC 7 game right before the money cause I had a flush to the 9 and he had a flush to the Q (but I did have my flush already on the turn, and he rivered his). It was in omaha, and it taught me a good lesson. (as well as showing me that I STILL suck at PLO) I do tend to stay in on the flop with a 4 flush, if I have 2 in the pocket, and my high card is BW, but it depends on a lot of factors. Position being a big deciding factor, as well as who is still in and my reads.
I will almost always bet out if I have a nut FD on the flop, but I wont chase to the river, unless I have other outs as well, and the pot/implied odds are good.

Oh yea, I only play tourneys, STT and MTT, so like salim, cant say what to do in cash.

I guess I really suk worse than I thought a PLO, cause I dont.lol. I will search my HH and see what I am missing here- If I remember right, I had 2 clubs in my 4 pkt cards and by the turn there were 3 on board. But I will look and see what I missed. But I am not clear if I remember right anyway.

I was wrong, but we did both have the flush, But we BOTH flopped, I raised, he re raised I was all in he called.

My memory suks, but why was my situation above not possible? I thought he rivered the flush, but it was selective memory. We actually both flopped it. I just wanted to think he sucked out on the river, but I was beat from the get go.

Is it even worth going for flushes? Axs etc. I play Pokerstars micro 1/2 and every time that there are 3 of a suit on the board everyone shuts down. In the last several months of playing, I can think of only 2-3 times I got paid on them, 1 being when he also had the flush.

The money spent trying to catch them isnt coming back when you do. Also, then you are stuck playing the low A when the A hits the flop.

The last several weeks, have killed me with flushes, since they seem to be coming up more often.

The only one who seems to play against them is me! I will play my TPTK or 2 pair and they will seem to always have it.

Sounds like you are giving far too much weight to flushes - you call 10/10 with any raggy ace or king if it's suited? Just throwing money away IMO. The advantage of decent aces/decent kings/connectors is that you don't flop a flush/flush draw then you can hit good pairs/two pairs/straights which will win pots (unlike a pair of 3s with K3)

It all comes down to the person playing the flush. I'm not always going to complete the flush but if I have K suited on a flush draw I'm fighting for it unless I put someone on that Ace. The whole idea of the flush and chasing them can get dicey but I believe in my post flop play so that's why I like to play them. If you're at all a passive player flushes and straight draws are going to be a money pit. IF you like the game within the game and have good post flop play than these types of hands can become quite profitable. Especially if you hit them w/ an Ace or King. Most of the time you don't have 2 people going for the same suited flush. Like I said if you do and are playing a king high flush you should be able to figure out on the river whether you should fold, call or raise. I just wanted to see if anyone else likes playing them and how they play them.

Another note is that you won't have a good success rate w/ these kinds of hands on the river in a multiway pot. Get people to punch out on pre flop and then if you hit that draw get it down to you and another opponent by the river for best results.

make sure you play it according to your pot odds. don't blindly chase every flush draw you have no matter the bet. thats a good way to go broke.

Very good point Mike. I think a few people misunderstood me and thought I was chasing every flush as I forgot to mention this. Gotta know when to fold them to make them profitable, absolutely.

cant stress playing with pot odds. I would always call with a flush draw and that would lead me nowhere. Also if you have a low flush like 8 high, check betting patterns cuz he might have a higher one
