Would you refer to this as heads up?

Say you got 9 people at a table but only 2 of them people get involved in a hand.
When describing this hand would you say they were heads-up?

(for example) I got knocked out on the 5th hand when my A Q got beat by 5 3 heads up.

Is it still heads up even though its not the final 2 players?

I consider heads up to be you playin one person only with no other players at a table. I guess you could say you got knocked out 2 handed when the other players folded and werent in the hand.

I think it's right, coz it's only you against 1 other person... If the other players aren't active they don't count...

Yeah, on tv they always say something like, "and they go heads up into the turn." Even though it's a full table.

Yes.

That's one reason to raise preflop, to eliminate other opponents and get heads up in a pot.

is the time where we have not necessarily the best 2 of the tournament, but the 2 "best" games of the table who want to play. is a good time to make decisions! Peace to all!

Hmmmm, its not what I'd refer to as heads up. I guess its a head to head clash, but a 'heads up' battle brings to mind much scrappier play.
If only 2 players out of 9 get into a hand against each other, chances are they are both have decent holdings (18 cards dealt out, more than a quarter of the deck on the table!).
Its a head to head meeting, but not a classic heads up.

When worded like this ^ then 'yes'. To just say we were 'heads up' < no.

On TV they say "they are heads up in the pot" with more then 2 at the table. But my belief is heads up occurs when only 2 players remain at one table.

HU with 9 players has too many open cards compared to HU with 2.
