Why do I win more 6 Handed than 9 Handed?

In cash, i much prefer 9-handed play. But for Sit and Go games, I'll take 6-handed play over 9-handed any day. I don't know why but the simple fact is that I make more money with six players. When I am 9 handed and the top three get paid, I'll cash about 43% of the time, but for 6 handed tables where 2 get paid, this is more like 55%. Maybe my sample is small (about 900 games), but there is a clear pattern.
Can anyone suggest why I do better 6 handed? I know you have not been given lots of info to go on, but all I am looking for is a few suggestions.....
Are there players on this forum who similarly do better 6-handed? All comments welcomed.......

The reason for this is verrry simple.... you have less competition!!
You will statistically win more in a game only 6 handed compared to one
9 handed. Now the prises are a bit lower, but not as low as one might think.
In a game thats 6 handed, i believe that the prises go to the top 2. while
in a 9 handed game they go to the pot 3, so the money is spread out
inbetween those numbers. In the end its basically evend out. In a 6 handed
game you have a bigger chance to win but you wouldnt win as much
as you could have in a 9 player game. Simple as that.

I know what you are saying, and I considered that, but I am somewhat uncomvinced. In both games, the same proportion of players get paid (1/3), and in both games you can make it to the bubble by playing relatively few games. I have been doing some thinking about this and I feel that the answer may be psychological- six handed games are faster so I am forced to pay more attention and make more decisions, whereas in 9 handed games I can sit back a bit. I think it is this sitting back that is damaging my win rate. It keeps me out of harms way and gets me close to the bubble, but it also means that I approach the bubble with fewer chips than the others and more in need of a double up. I think i need to be somewhat more aggressive in my play to avoid this.
