why did u play that hand

where is the hand going ? most of us dont know but really. U seen someone flop a boat wh Q 6 unsuited and broke a A Q in halve. just because u see a unicorn dont meen you can catch it.
now your under the gun with A 7 unsuited , theres only a couple of flops your going to like , Im pretty sure you not flopin AAA or 777,
This is for begginers and im tryn to make a point of dont go broke on weak aces and marginal hands. better hand are just around the corner, when i see people bust in the bb wh something like k5 off just because he made top pair. I figure he tilted or something. Not all hands have to be the nuts, u dont have to even connect to take a pot , just dont go broke playing weak hands, some time you will be called. gl

good idea the weak A is the biggest trap and I save for spots where I need to pick up a pot to survive only like in 5 bb or less situations in unraised pot with only blinds left to act and i can't wait for premium hands any longer

This actually also goes toward playing style, size of the table, (A 7 is a great hand heads up), is this a tournament game or a cash game, what stage of the tournament is it, etc. There are no absolutes in this game. Which hands you open a pot with depend on a host of factors. (see Harrinton on Hold 'em, pp 18-23).

What you are advocating is very conservative play, which is great in certain situations and plainly not appropriate for others. Admittedly beginners should stick with premium hands until they understand the game more, but it in reality it is not that simple.

In the example you give Q 6 may have been in late position or BB, and A Q limped in early trying to get some action or change his/her table image. Everyone folds and the flop comes. Or maybe Q 6 is simply a super aggressive player.

All I am trying to say is that there is no silver bullet or magic rule to poker. You truly have to weigh multiple factors at each stage of the game. The game has many layers of complexity and this post seems to oversimplify and imo disrespects the game.
