when fish running like god, stay or leave?

What do you guys do when you have an obvious fish at your table and you know you SHOULD win his money but he cannot lose a showdown?

There's this guy at my table now that has gone all in 4 times, was ahead twice and well behind the other two times. Both times he caught river suckout gutshot straights hitting. All this in a span of 30 hands. He's seeing a ton of flops, and I haven't seen him lose a hand that has gone to showdown yet.

And I am not running so good tonight, especially against the strs. The only two times I was all in, I lost to str draws hitting. (Another table)

His luck SHOULD run out eventually, right?? (Usually doesn't work that way in reality though)

Edit, as I was typing this out, the player in question just got another guy to go all with a medium pair on a QJ3 board, and he flipped over KK to clean another dude out.

I usually stay. If his run continues, pay him, that's poker.

I would stay his luck will end eventually. I would play position against this opponent.

Usually "fishes" luck don't really last THAT long in all honestly, you just think they do because like several hands in a row they suck out but I think you should stay in general, let them get their money in bad, There is only so much you can lose to them, besides which if it's +EV as they say when you get your money in it's defiantly correct to be staying!

There is no such thing as running good when you really think about it. Probabilities don't change. It is just after someone has been on the good side of chance a few times it looks like they have some magic spell over them lol. Its like if I hit a set of 5s then get pocket 5s next hand I think should I still set mine, what are the odds I would hit the same set twice. But the odds are the same for the second as they were for the first!

I would stay and play solid poker against him, unless it's starting to tilt you that this guy is running so good this session.

Fish are fish; I will happily play them while being completely indifferent to how they're running. It's literally impossible to be skilled at "sucking out", so you just need to shrug it off when it happens. And think about it; if you're going to leave the fish behind, whom do you want or expect to play instead--a solid winning reg who just so happens to be "running bad"?

One point that is important to note is that when a fish is hot, he tends to be more willing to put money to chase some random high pair.

Stay tighten up he will feel invincable, play him in posistion and get it in good.

Why would you tighten up? You want to play every hand you can against the fish.

I'd stay. Bring plenty of bait, a few beers, and get ready to fill up your net.

I've had the pleasure of playing many of fish online. And most of the time he gets a couple of big pots on me and then I run him out. I've learned in poker, failure is the best road to success.

Watching this fish kick ass now. He caught runner runner flush against me (I think). I had to check fold the river after the 4th heart fell.

Then he calls raise with 94 suited, and calls a flop bet with NOTHING (AJT with one spade). The he hits another spade on turn. Calls another big bet. Then hits a 3rd spade.

The other guy shoves with a set of Js thinking the fish has an A. No way the fish has two spades right? Poor bastard lost twice the buyin.

I used to be a commercial fisherman, and although I have scars from the fish spearing me with their fins or biting me with their teeth, I still caught them, and made a profit off of them. However, I did stop fishing barefoot, and invested in knee-high rubber boots. So put your rubber boots on, and get back out on that water and nab that fish!

That fish left after tripling up on his buyin. Then the next one (could be a lady from the username) sits down and takes her a few mins to clean out another dude with a set of JJ again. Calls bet with Q8 suited (again two spades). This time she hits a str on the turn with a 9.

A bit of eerie symmetry there.

I LOVE it when there's a maniac fish on my table who's playing 90% of the hands, & getting extremely lucky winning huge pots. If I'm able to buyin for 250bb's I do so instantly.
Yesterday I came across a few of them (Spain & Brazil seems to be a common theme). All were new players & were reallyyyy bad. I lost ~10buyins during the session but actually felt I played great.
One hand, in UTG I'm dealt AA, I raise 4x (cuz maniac is in BB & I know he'll never fold). He calls. I flop Topset & am thinking, "how do I get the money in?" He donkbets "POT" (7bb).. I raise 25bb.. & he calls. Turn seems a blank.. he leads into me again, leaving me a bit more than a pot-sized shove.... so I ship it & he snapcalls with a gutshot... & he gets there on the river, lol. This was great!! (even if it didn't seem like it). I LOVE these guys & am hunting them down regularly (they all make my 'friends list').

Can't say I'm one for believing in 'luck streaks'. I get kinda shocked when I see other players leave a table that has a maniac like this on it. Sure they may lose a couple/few buyins to the player but so what. Why leave? Ever?? I've watched tables break up cuz the other players leave while a maniac is 4bai with J8o & getting there vs. big pr's. I almost cry when I see the table break up (I'll sit there & play the guy HU til' he leaves too).

ah no seriously if u find automated teller machine stay there, keep foceused, mmark him as a friend and proceed to clean him out of his bankroll. dont run scared unless u lose like five buy ins in five hands...

See? We only THINK that their luck will run out but in reality often the streak lasts longer than we think.

I just had this guy call me down with 55 with all overcards and no draw at all. (I had trip Qs on the flop) The 5 hit on the river, he check raises me all in. I was getting 3:1 at that pt so I called.

Took me down to 20c, so I just went all in next hand with QK. QK vs. this same guy's QK. Guess what. He hits a flush. In two hands my stack was gone.

The prob is, when the other guy will not fold and gets all his cards, how can you win?

I am staying at this table now. Raise big pre with TT. Hit my set on a KQT board. This fish had called on BB so I am thinking he's gonna call me down with a K right? Nope. He check folds.

I would stay all day long and even put match sticks in just so I could stay a bit extra. I would try see as many cheap flops against them knowing I could outplay them and get paid if I hit it hard.
I just love seeing how much I can get them to pay for long shot draws, even if they hit it.

It's really incredible how when I run into a super fish, I just can't get any help from the board. I've now seen over 50 hands at this table with an obvious fish who will raise/call with any two cards. Yet I can't beat him.

I've seen 6 flops, won 1 of them. I won one other hand, preflop. Ran up against this guy twice AQ once, AJ another time. Hit absolute air and lost both. Meanwhile, he takes out TT with KT (flops str) and AQ with 89 against another guy within one minute. He's cleaned out the same guy 3x in the last half hour. (the other time was legit, JJ vs. TT) He's rolling over the table. Y not. He can't lose.

I am staying in, but other than AQ and AJ, I haven't had anything but junk. I raised him when I could but when he will not fold anything if he has a piece, I can't put all my stack in with two over cards... or can I? He is so loose that even if the board's 358, he might have hit a piece.

Well, as I was typing, he just cleaned out another one. Calls an all in with 85 os and beats AQ. I don't think he has lost one single showdown yet. Or even lost a hand (that I've seen but I haven't watched every hand that I folded)

Finally got him. Flopped a set of 4s. He calls all in with ace high and 5 kicker (i.e. nothing) and NEARLY hits a runner runner str on me as the turn gives him 8 outs. How lucky is this piece of fish.

First time in 80+ hands that I saw him lose a showdown. Glad it was me. I am off to bed now. Not gonna challenge lady luck anymore. Got lucky once.

But, imho, I think you should stay and try and make him play his wide variety of hands and eventually you'll crack him.

If Im at the table, you might as well stay as I tend to give back not only the profit but the buy in and usually in one big hand. I used to be one of these people that if I doubled up I was done. but now I feel I gotta get over the short term wins and be able to grind for longer times. I tend to put myself in self defeating mode a lot. Hey Now i doubled up, so now Im gonna lose it and it usually just dumb plays by me that causes this to happen. Sometimes its almost a curse to start off well well at least in my case

They need to win sometimes, that's what keeps them depositing.

I didn't mind because this player had stats of 72/51/1.4, a steal rate of 72% and had been paying me out over and over again for about two hours.

the fish are the reason we stay at tables. Variance my friend variance. In the long run, better poker does win.

When the cards are all falling in the right place for them, I rather not dare lady luck to screw me over. She's sure done it plenty. Even if they call with 85 to my AQ all in pre for example, I am only 2:1, certainly easily loseable.

If he'll play and bet everything and won't fold, I can only win if the cards help me. I love fishes when I am running good, but when running bad, it's almost impossible to win. Against decent players at least I can bluff a few pots. Against them it's just bingo poker.
