If you called a raise and have an overpair OOP and you lead out is that a donk bet...or is leading out OOP with any hand considered a donk bet?

Either way, this bet winds the hell outta me! Anyone care to divulge what they are actually representing!?! I'd rather be check raised, at least I get a chance to take the hand down!

I always thought a donk bet was leading out into a preflop raiser with a retardly small bet. (min-bet or tiny fraction of the pot) In these cases, the name is truly deserved, as it makes zero sense.

By the way, this seems to be the norm at 25NL. Every time I bet preflop and get multiple callers, some donk comes out firing with a 1/5th of the pot bet, and almost always folds to a reraise. I could see its use as a collusion tool in multi-way pots, but other than that, it seems like a good way to burn money.

I was under the same impression w/ Vic, but I see the term being used for anyone who leads out that wasn/t the intial raiser.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but in this situation, I call BTN raise from BB w/ 99 the flop comes 2 4 8 Wouldn't I wanna lead out

The term is obviously negative, does that mean u should f(for the most part) just check even if ur ahead

im not sure. but i usually check. but i really hate it when they do that to me, especially if they bet a lot, i don't know if their bluffing or they expect me to call just because i raised preflop.

If you know your OPP will C-bet and has a High AF factor then yea just check-raise but if villain has a pathetic AF and low C-Bet & then just lead out, the last thing you wanna do is let the villain peel of a card when you were nice and ahead.

Am I correct in this thinking?

Yes. Not sure if I like a check/raise, since our hand really isn't all that strong, but yes, we should probably collect a c-bet first.
