Whats the best way

What's the best way to test my understanding of the game without actually sitting at a table? Are there any poker tests around.

Just play your own game and don't worry about how good you think are or what test results you can achieve. Everything is situational so there aren't any right answers to give for a test.

You could submit some hand histories in the hand analysis forum for free rolls that you play in. But that still requires sitting a table. There's just no $ risk involved.

I downloaded software from Poker Academy – Your Source for Great Poker Software some time ago. From what I remember, you played for free and there were different settings for hand analysis. I started to play online in freerolls and low limits so I haven't used that software in awhile. It was good for learning strategy, but I think you get a better feel for how to play hands from the online experience. You see a lot of plays and how others play.

I think the real test would be your bankroll. If you are up you are passing, if you are down better study.

Just start in low limits and constantly analyze your play and get input from others. Do not move up until you are ready. You have to play to get better.

Several of the poker books have tests at the end of each chapter.
