| re: What are YOUR hand ranges poker Asking for hand ranges is kind of like asking what my cards are before the hand begins. I don't suspect anyone will tell you the truth, its one of things you are suppose to figure out. I do respect your asking, but wouldn't put to much store in the responses. Like others I generally play AA from most positions, but will even fold them pre-flop under the correct conditions. |

| To be honest, just read some poker books, many of the pros have all the basics of hand ranges, and stuff that they do and play ( or at least say that they play) and it will def. Give you a starting point as to what an above average player will play, and or do. |

| Depends on your table. Smokeme. More times than not you are min raising to hide your hand. But if you have 4 5 6 maniacs that you know are hyper agressive ( raising re raising too much ) A limp would more often than not give you a GREAT advantage, you limp they see an blind steal oppurtunity, and then lets say there is a 3 bet and a 4 bet, well then you can do a nice 5 bet, or even just shove would not be bad as well then you get it in with the best of it. But again, its mostly depediing on the table in this situation ( limping is usually bad in most cases, i only tend to limp with AA nothing else if i do limp. ) |

One when you limp UTG 3bet it gives your hand away even a retard can figure out that you have a monster. Two if you have 4,5,6. raising and 3betting to much thats good thing. Lets use 5nl for example you limp UTG get mp1 raises to .20 CO calls you?raise to a $1 if they all fold you win .47 cents. You raise 3x UTG mp1 raises to .45 CO calls you?4bet to $1.45 if they all fold you win .97cents |

| @OP asking this is like saying "How much does a house cost?" DUCY? @smokeme (wonder what that sn refers to..lol) Raise. If you have tight players they may tip you off to their strength if and when by calling - or 3 betting - and maniacs are gonna stay in anyway, might as well get their money in now. |

| I think assigning a particular range and being "set" with it in each and every position is a mistake. The hands I play in any position vary on what the table is like. If the table is nitty, then you can open a much wider range from earlier postions for example, however if the table is a loose with 3bettors left right and centre then you tighten up your range etc. |

Obviously if you are playing HU the starting hand range is going to be huge cause you play most hands. 6 max ring tables the starting hands are going to be narrower and full (9) ring is going to be smaller still. When you decide what range you like then you can factor in how loose/tight the table, your position at the table and whether or not the pot is opened PF by the time its your turn to determine if you want to play that desire hand. For a full table game it's going to be: AA KK level 1 AK AQ QQ KQ level 2 suited connectors , AJ KJ JJ QJ, pocket pairs >66 level 3 A3-A10 suited , small pocket pairs <55. level4 I classify this cause it's easier for me to think in terms of the level of strength of these hands as it stands preflop......After the flop everything changes. level 1 hands may go to 4 bet PF, level 2 hands may go to 3bet, level 1-2 can be played to a single raise or limp depending own table dynamics. these hands normally should not be played with a raise and reraise preflop when it gets back to your turn. In HU it's what hands cant you play? Last edited by dlam : 3rd December 2011 at 10:34 PM. |
