| What is the optimal bet with Quads? I hit trip Qs on the flop and then quads on the turn. Being first to act, I decided to check the turn after having bet the river, hoping to sell having just a 10, and at the very least give the other two a chance to hit a card on the river. I ended up making zero extra on the turn and river. I compounded checking the turn by betting too much on the river. Should I have bet the turn and how much? Thanks Dealt to BB:J♠ Q♦ Sklansky group 5 Preflop: 1 players fold. | I bet like .75 on the turn and the shove the river. Zeebo therom, no one folds a FH, if they dont have a T,2,PP your not geting much out of them, Ax is gonna look up that 1$ some of the time but not enough to make it more profitable then jamming and owning Tx/88 ect when they cant fold. |

| re: What is the optimal bet with Quads? poker I would't have bet at all. Check after the flop and check after the turn untill someone gets something or at least think i get nothing. At the river when my turn comes i would bet a third of the pot to make the others think i want to throw them out of the pot and i think i would've made some profit. I did that 2 days ago with 3 tens , raised 1/3 of the pot on the river and some guy checked my bet and a guy with AK in his hand went all in after he hit his A on the river. Sure they can fold . But winning just 2-3 blinds with a hand like that is not enough. |

| Either. .75 on turn and then shove the river, or bet .50 on turn and .75 on river to get maximum value, but you should be trying to earn the maximum not the minimum with value bets. So probably .75 turn, see where that gets you, then bet like. $1.25 on river, if they have called the turn they are commiting to the river |

| Props for betting with the set. At these limits most players try to trap, good job on straying from the herd. Getting paid off with quads is hard. Its easy to slowplay and pray someone has something. It takes balls to lead the action. Whenever I get a big hand like quads or a straight flush I take a mental note on how I played it and play it differently the next time, if possible. These hands are a bit rare, unless you play 10 or more tables at a time, so I like to look at them as learning opportunities. Of all the quads and straight flushes (maybe 25?) I'ver been dealt, I only remember 5 paying off huge. |

| 1. fold preflop! QTo in a MW pot will not win you much in the longrun especially when you are OOP 2. You must must must bet this turn because of 3 reasons a) it looks more like you hit a big hand if you check back this turn and then bet big on the river. b) the hands that will call you are pairs (they have a FH and will not fold) plus AX a lot of bad players will call here with Ax hoping to spike a FH on the river. c) by not betting the turn you limit the size of the pot, had you bet $1 on the turn and been called you could then bet another $3 on the river and been called so even if you checked the turn and then got a call on the river you are still $3 short of betting the turn and river. Recap... Ax can call the turn but not the river without hitting (why hope they hit when you can charge them for the priverlage of drawing) pocket pairs will rarely fold here so if you get a call on the turn you could even think of over betting the river and expect to see hands like 66. But by far the most important thing you need to do is to fold preflop! |

| That's a tough spot - as far as acquiring chips goes. Bet the flop, hope to get called by hands like J9-JK. The Q on the turn kills all draws, as they probably figured you for a T. I'd bet the turn again, but wouldn't expect anybody to call you, as any hand that doesn't have a T, an A, or a PP to fold. |

2. His hand is not all that strong, its not suited! so he is hoping to hit a straight in a MW pot and then for some reason which at this point is unknown, thee min-raiser and the limper's are going to want to stack off. Did anyone in this particular pot want to stack off? - no Is that generally reflective of these types of limped pots? I would say so So can it ever be profitable to call a couple of BB in these limped pots when you are going to miss so often, not be able to apply pressure post-flop and normally be winning 50BB pots at most? This is fit or fold in action! |
