watching the table

if you are in a tournament over 90 people early on is it necissary to watch the players around you, get reads, calculate what percent of hands they play early on? Chances are you wont be at the same table very long so is it worth the effort?

i dont try hard to watch players and catch them out but if i see a weakness or a habbit that they keep doing i make a note of it in the notes section, (not sure which site you use and if it has this function) then if you do happen to be at the final table with them it could prove costly

People use programs that track tournmane stats, I think the program is called tournament indicator or something of that sort. It keeps a tab on players for you, so you don't have to..

Yeah specially when you get moved table from table early on and people get out, no real point. Final table it helps, but early on you can forget it.

What I do

I just play my game early in the tourney.Only later as it progresses do I play table images. You must always have a strategy though.

I think there is always a point. True you might get moved but it also happens that you can run the whole tourney around pretty much the same people so I wouldn't just discredit the fact that if you really want to win you should be using all your skills to do so

i think you should always pay attention to what is going on even though you can get moved a lot ...i've been at tables for over an hour so you never know so you might as well try to notice how people are playing.it helps to know who's tight and who's raising a lot... who's limping a lot...who's laying down to re-raises who's calling till the river then folding...a lot of things to consider,it's good to have some kind of history

re: watching the table poker

I would take some notes as it can be helpful later. But you do not really need to study at the beginning. But if you notice weaknesses or patterns that you can exploit you definitely want to take note of them. As the tourney gets further and further along you want to start paying way more attention to the players and moves.

i think you should always pay some kind of attention to what is going on at the table your at even if your only going to be there a short time and if you notice a player seems to buy pots make a note or if a player tends to fold alot make a note you could end up at a table with them again and it could help you but as far as keeping notes on everyplayer i dont think you need to do all that but indeed keep an eye on what is going around always who knows you may be at a table with that person longer than you would think
