| Top pair and a big draw This situation has been bringing up a lot of questions for me. Say Im holding AKs and the flop comes A and two of my suit. How do y'all play it? I am purposefully leaving out stack size, ring vs. tourney, etc to hear more thoughts. Thanks all |

| The usual - depends on position, opponents, stack sizes etc - but apart from that I'm betting this hard and if the situation is right all in. Depending on what the other two card are I might be concerned about a straight but you have the best hand here (AA & KK aside) so bet it hard. |

When I consider your question my first thoughts go to who's in the hand w me? reads on opponents, history with opponents, position, table image, blah blah blah.... and then if it's a tournament situation a bunch more stuff comes into play. To me, poker isn't a game where you can just say, "Lead out with a 2/3 bet on the flop if you were the preflop aggressor and there's 3 or less players in the hand" etc. It is very situationally dependent. |

| re: Top pair and a big draw poker Thanks for the replies to my incomplete question. I find myself thinking trap here in a lot of situations and I dont think this is a good idea. Here are is some more useful info if y'all have some more time #1 - Midway through MTT. Hero is in late position with ATc. Blinds 200/400 3 limpers PF all earlier position than Hero. Hero limps as well. SB folds BB checks. Pot is 2200 Flop is A74 with two clubs. Player right of Hero bets 1200. Hero stack is 11200. Bettors stack is 10800 and is standard TAG. What should Hero do? #2 - Bubble time in SnG. Blinds 200/400. Player in LP limps. Button limps. SB folds. Hero is BB and checks with A9d. Pot is 1400. Flop comes 796 with two diamonds. Hero is SS'd with 4200. #3 - Same as #2 but flop is 9K8 with two diamonds. Thanks everyone |

| #1 bet agressively #2 I would play it carefully, you would be on a good draw and top pair, so I would check/call to see the strenght of the oponent, if everythings went well on the turn, I would bet the pot, if it is not, depending on the stack size of the 2 oponents I would fould #3 check/call a low bet and fold on turn if anything shoed up or fold to a high bet |

1. Raise pre, shove postflop. 2. Shove preflop with two limpers, for that situation I'm shoving postflop. 3. Still shoving the flop, assuming a pair of kings we have 5 suck outs for trips/two pair and a flush draw. Kinda tired while writing this... im going to bed :< sleeeeeeeeeeeeeep |
