thoughts on putting someone on a hand

When attempting to put someone on a hand I watch for various bet patterns.
How much they bet each street, when they bet,when they stop betting, their hesitations and what they mean, and the sort of hands they have been playing previously.

Does anybody have a comment on, or something to add too these thoughts.

uh how do you put people on hands in games like stud or razz. I Usually play razz, and i am a tight/aggressive player, but its hard to spot styles of playing (if any)

Limit is much harder to put people on hands is all i have to say, so, can you help me out here? the hesitations usually mean they are thinking of calling or folding, but that is all i have got on them.

Btw i am doing well in the play chips, but when it comes to money (i dont have any) i usually lose it faster than you can say bankroll management,

When I find someone not following these rules I notate DUG Doesn't Understand Game and play hands against them

Watch out as you move up (still well into the micros) and people adjust their bet sizes based on flop texture rather than their hand.

Although against fish, the only real adjustments you have to make are against passive or aggressive players and you can treat players the same as all the others in the same category.

Same as above. When they bet implies the inclusion of when they don't. Not nit picking, just saying my responses are the same.

Live or online?
Online you really shouldn't trust timing tells. If you insist on using them, I strongly advise you to have a notepad next to you and mark down your predictions before seeing if you were right or wrong, and keeping track of it objectively.
Timing tells are notoriously unreliable.
Live... meh, tells are worth using but enormous amounts of practice are important.

Change that to "How they've played their previous hands" and I'll agree with it.


What I'll add is that there are two categories:
Fish
Regs

Fish, are extremely predictable. Their range is either extremely wide or extremely tight, that's about all you need to know when in a hand with them.
Regs are using logic that you should understand, whether it's slightly more advanced or less advanced, you should be able to comprehend most of it. Apply the same type of logic to the situation and you'll get the range of hands that could have made it to that point in the hand.

I do the same, however I think the patterns change depending on the game. For example if you are playing holdem someone may have different patterns than stud. Make sense?

To clarify, my post was mainly to do with micro stakes, at this level most participants only play their cards as they see them, they are rather robotic, I agree better players disguise their patterns.

Thanks thepokerkid123, had a good think on what you wrote and have added it to my reading strategy, your concise thinking, helped in particular " people adjust their bet sizes based on flop texture rather than their hand" since incorporating that into my tournament game I have improved in the later tournament stages.
