re: Is this a tell? If so, whats it mean?? poker When he looks up at the table, he's checking chip stacks, so he can make the correct bet. He's not betting only based on his own cards, but he's trying to either make a bet that you're going to call, or fold, based on your stack.

or maybe.... they know about how if you look at your chips instantly after looking at your cards then it means your strong so they're trying to mask that. or maybe they knows about people seeing through that tell and.... truth is most tells need some history before you can take them to be true tells and not some weird thing people do when they're playin poker. if they do this and you see at the end of the hand that they had a strong/weak then you might have something. if they do it consistently then you my friend have a "tell".

Usually when someone looks at their cards a second time it means that they are checking the suit of the cards and they do not have a pair pre flop. Like they have two red cards but double checking if they are the same suit. You will see a lot of people check their cards post flop for the same reason but then they may have a pair just checking if they have the suit that flopped for additional outs.

Not always. I've seen pros doing this to misguide players with the NUTS or the BEST hand. Sometimes people think that looking your cards twice or several times means exactly what you said.. that's true, but remember, if someone knows exactly what you think you're doing, they're probably bluffing you back. |

This can be a very real tell. Usually a less skill player will do this because they are surprised at the strength of their hand and have not confirmed their position in advance and are unaware of the chip stacks too their left. It is usually a sign of some strength.
