Suited cards How aften do you call raises with suited cards? It seems to happen quite a bit online but maybe I am wrong. The problem I have is that it keeps costing me my whole stack in tourneys. Yesterday I QQ lost to 10 8 s when they flopped a flush draw on a paired board then turned a straight draw I pushed all in and they called and rivered the flush. I think my problem is I rarely seem to hit my draws when I call but often it goes agaisnt me when I push all in front.

i read somewhere before that they ran an EV analysis on every hand collected on party poker between a period of time so they literally had millions of hands and found that suited cards only really give you an extra 3% at most of winning a hand. seemed a little low i thought but i guess its possible. but back to the main topic, im gonn basically say what everyone else will say that is don't worry about it. as long as you're getting your money in good you'll profit in the long run. dont be disappointed at hands like the QQ one, you should be happy that you got him to put his stack in as an underdog.

Suited cards are way overplayed. Most of the time they just get you into trouble, and then when you actually do hit the flush it usually is pretty obvious. I see people all the time call my 3x-4x raise with like Q-2s. I'll have AQ and then the Q93 comes on the flop and people will call off their whole stack with top pair-crappy kicker. You get put in a lot of margainal situations with this hand and a lot of times even if you hit 2 flush cards you will put in the rest of your stack hoping for the flush. If you want to be a good player, you can't call with stuff like Q2s or J3s or junk like that. I mean seriously I will see people call a 4x raise with 10-4s....what a joke. As far as the extra 3% statistic....I have heard that same number as well, but I don't know where I heard it from. Probably from reading a post on cardschat a while back.

Do what works for you. Suited Suited connectors Suited split connectoids. (lol) They all have there time and place, but in general not the cards of choice. So much depends on the number of callers and the situation(variables). If you play to tight. You will feel everyone is sucking out on you. Time and time again. That may be the time to loosen up and play more aggressive. If you loosen up: You will get the occasional suck out to even things up. Flowing with the balance of things ...... Making marginal hands turn into Gold. Avoiding pitfalls and Pain. Good Luck at the tables ........

i hope you raised pre flop first of all. no starting hand is guaranteed. especially ladies!! however suited cards like the 8 10 isnt a bad starting hand and depending on my chip stack and the blind an position i would usually call with 8 10. i have a possibility of a flush a straight and best of all a straight flush. maybe bet a strong amount next time instead of throwing all you chips in and see if your opponent catches the draw you put them on instaed of risking all your chips

Cards being suited will only make me slightly more likely to call. I'm rarely going to call a raise with J6 suited or not, but I might call with A8 or 78 if it's at a discount and I have chips to spare. 8T is marginal but some people will play them. You have to be sure to raise enough preflop with QQ and raise enough after the flop to make sure flush draws don't have the proper odds to call. They might call anyway, but at least you're getting your money in good.
