Ok then can just settle something in my mind. I'm currently doing the Fulltilt Academy. And i need some help!

"Open raise 5 times to exactly 3x BB with the following: A-A, A-K, K-K, A-Q, Q-Q, T-T, J-J, or A-J."

Ok it says raise 3x BB. Let say the big blind is $1. Do you raise to $4 or $3?

Do you raise 3 x BB including the blind or with out the big blind?

I know it's a really stupid question but thats one thing i have never understood.

I think his question was whether or not the 3BB raise was in addition or inclusive of the 1BB already posted by the big blind.

It is inclusive so he should post $3 leaving the BB with a call of $2

the correct answer is 3, the bb is already $1 so when they say 3x's or 5x's you multiply it by the bb and get your answer.

3, but I wouldnt raise with QQ or weaker cards (preflop). QQ and JJ are the most dangerous cards in hand...for the owner. Hard to throw, easy to lose a lot with them.

You might want to check out some of the strategy articles here. You may be playing a little too tight.

Actually my guess is that he doesn't play tight but rather plays WAY too passively. Likely limp-calls too much and then gives up too easy postflop.

Your advice to read the strategy articles is still spot on though.
