| If you raise and a player behind you call, and then a 3rd player re-raises, then you are squeezed. You have to worry about the re-raiser and the person calling behind you who is still left to act, and that means you have to take extra precautions, and think twice before calling. |

Say a player opens for 3x BB and then gets flat called by another player, you then 3-bet over the top of the inital raise. The first player (although may be holding a reasonable strength hand) cannot simply call as he has a player behind him who might be willing to go all in. He also can't really shove without a premium hand which is very rare. So he's likely to fold. The second players range is a lot wide, usually a speculative hand which wouldn't do well in an all-in situation, and so they too are forced to fold.
