Software!!! What do you like and what did you hate?

There is a plethora of programs most saying they're free until you get to the deposit page.... after you've already filled out the cr**p they ask you for.

So what have you tried and dumped, and what are you using today?

PokerTracker/PAHUD is the best way to go IMO. Yes it requires an investment of some money, but the value you can get out of it well exceeds the investment. There is a ton of software out there, but only one or two come anywhere near what PT/PAHUD offers. And of those, the best value/deal is PT/PAHUD.

pokertracker 3 comes with a HUD (heads up display), so you won't have to get PAHUD. just released, but i can already tell you i recommend it cause the pt guy does great work

There is a fair bit of good information in our PokerTracker Reference Thread that AG compiled. Take a look through there. Also, the pokertracker website is a wealth of information for both tweaks and troubleshooting.

It can be a bit daunting at first, but once you're happy with the settings it is a great tool.

Pretty much most of the poker related programs have been installed, tried, then uninstalled.

To be honest i dont really like playing with extra little numbers popping up here and the over the table, Pokertracker 3 could be really good once everything is sorted out.

Ian does not seem to fond about PT3. 3rd post that I have seen now about PT3 in the last 10 minutes

Good idea to spread the word on the Beta-like full release.

who needs it

who needs thease calculaters and trackers. ok fine for poker players learning the game, but after so long playing the game they become hinderance rather than a help.

I have to disagree with this. As long as you're playing poker, a tool like PokerTracker will always be able to help you look deeper into your game and find holes. Is it absolutely necessary, no, probably not. Will it help someone serious about improving their game, absolutely (and more so than someone just reading books). And this applies well beyond just beginners.

In fact, I think it's the exact opposite. Beginner players should probably stay away from programs like PT, as they may be overwhelmed by the data, and not know how it relates to their game.

Once you have a basic style of your own, then PT and the like become invaluable for tweaking it to make it (more) profitable.

I've crossed Jack Daniels, off my list, he was kind enough to answer. Kerouacs Dog was already off. The rest of you, and Vanquish you top it, should remember the guy with the list from Billy Madison....... you never know, that could be me!

AG = Ageing Grinder.

As the others have said, Poker Tracker.

For beginners, an odds calculator can be a useful trainer. Calculatem Pro appears to work reliably.
