| sng $3 dollar tournament Hey guys, I am wondering what the competition is like with the 3.00/.40 tournaments on pokerstars I am going to use the tournament self limit so I do not go above 4.00$ and be tempted to go to a higher tournament with out the proper bank roll. I think the best thing I learned from the freerolls is that folding Good cards doesnt bother me ie AK, AJ, KQ, ect. and that being patient is brings great rewards. Right now with freeroles I am playing less than 20% on average. I would play the 1$ sng but the payout doesnt seem that great but the 3$ gives out much better I realize that you should play with 5% of you bankroll but I will grind it out. I just don't want to get a head of my self. Sorry for the long post |

| would you let us know what you are going to play? like 1 tables 6 max? 1 table 9 or 10 players? 18 ppl sng, 45 ppl sng? anyway i play the 6 max turbo sngs, i find then preaty easy, i have not tried the ones with more players mainly because they don't have 6 max and i hate playing full ring. |

Note that I am talking about 9-person ones. Technically, if you are an overall winner at 9-person SNGs, you can play with more of your roll since you have a 33% chance of cashing. But MTT SNGs should be considered the same as any MTT -- high variance. 10% payouts should be treated differently than 33%. Patience. |

| Thanks for the replies, Actually after looking on pokerstars I saw a 6 table sng for 1.20, and I will be playing 2 single sng at a time, I think I can handle it. Also my starting bankroll will be about 30.00 I have also been playing lots of freerolls, and there are a couple things I learned to do, foldfoldfold I learned its good to have control over folding monster hands preflop ie AK, AJ QQ ect this saved me lots and the most important thing I learned is being patient and use the freaking timer, they give us the timer for a reason why not use it instead of jumping the gun on the instant play. |

as for the heads up game, personally i like to raise very other from small blind, with like 70% of my hands, because post flop you are in position and this is very important because you can decide what to do after your opponent acts. in a heads-up game you should not wait for monster hands, that's the weakness of you game, because there are just 2 players often nobody will hit anything, or when you hit 1 pair, even if it's the smallest, most of the time it will be the best hand, so in an unraised pot you should bet every time to try to pick up the pot. this is why i say you should raise in position, you opponent will miss very often and you can just take it down with a continuation bet, especially at this level, ofc when you move up to higher levels people with 3bet with air but for now this will work. the basic is that you have to slowly chip off you opponent till the moment when he has 2 make a stupid move because he is running out of time and chips. there is a lot to talk about heads-up game, for example this strategy won't work if your opponent is a very loose aggressive player, but from what i played at this level most players are loose passive aka calling stations, they will often fallow you to the river with an A in his hand. good luck. |
