Maybe asking: How do I play a small pp in early position in a $1 sng on the bubble where I have 11bb and the rest of the players have 8-25bb. The Chip leader is next to act and the short stack is on the button. Now asking a question like that will get you a more specific answer that will be more helpful to you next time you find yourself in that situation. Keep it up though, asking questions like this is how you'll learn. Just remember that the more info you include in the question, the better an answer we will be able to give you. |

It always depends. Ax suited is only playable in certain situations. Against beginners who will pay you off if you hit a flush, basically, or on the button when everyone else has folded you can raise 3x and either steal the blinds or play a hand in position. But you're not looking to pair the six or even the Ace, you're looking for the flush or an odd two pair on the flop, or to continuation bet the flop and take it down if you raised preflop. In this specific case, if you're sure your opponent is doing this with over cards you're fine. Put this into PokerStove and you're an 80/20 favorite so you've got nothing to worry about at that point. One of those 20% of times happened. But generally don't be playing Ax suited unless it's a multiway limped pot preflop and you have position, or, you raise in position. It'll cost you more than it earns.

re: small pockets poker oh yea huh i wasnt thinkin of position i guess. it was Ax suited so i thot i see the flop. but i had a good read on the other guy i think..so wen i hit the 6 i was pretty sure he dint have anythin. but den again i guess i trapped myself since people dont fold in this game..

Probe bet? IDK tough hand Tp2k it's good to bet but with 4 callers says "overpair" on one trying to trap. Last time I had similar hand had K4 paired 4's on flop (middle pair) with one caller, bet flop, called, turn dead card bet, call, K on river bet big call, lost to set of 4's. These low pair hands are most expensive in cash games, tourny is little different. Still think it's a real problem hand, and T or better on turn or river and you are WB (with exception of K, but you saw my problem). You are way OP anyways, let it go.

I think you played it good, if you really had a solid read that he had 2 overs, you just got unlucky that he caught a K. That's poker. Quote:

re: small pockets poker As stated above, it depends... You have to know more or less how the rest of the table play and maybe go for it, but beware small pp's could get you in trouble. If it's something below 55 and was shortstack I'd fold

Fold pre flop unless you have a solid read. The pot odds allow you to call on the flop, a raise would have shortened the odds against you. Chances of him having that ace are very low so you played fine getting your chips in.
