Short Stack strategy

Do you guys think is a good thing to do, use a short stack strategy in a low table like 0.10/0.20?
I've alredy tried twice and I always got called with stupid hands by loose agressive people and they flopped the pair or something to beat me

Don't worry your not alone...everytime im on a low table I get called with shit and they usually win...they call just because they have alot of money to call with...that strategy doesnt work the best....

It works fine if applied properly.

You want people calling with crap, but like anything else, variance will cause you to lose some when you're ahead and win some when you get in behind.

At the moment I'm up $170 in 4,000 hands playing short stack $25NL.

If you've "tried it twice", you haven't even started to find out where your results really should be.

Short stack does work; you just have to stick with it and don't get frustrated. Don't worry about the donks that call and suck out on you. Just get your money all in when you have the best of it and hope your hand holds up. Just a little note to consider don't go all in with AQ in early position; I've learned the hard way, and kept running into AK; lost a lot that way. Just raise 4xbb with AQ and be ready to muck if you dont hit.

it is high variance, so you have to be willing to lose alot of flips and have a bad day even with good play.

But yea at low stakes ssing can be real profitable, because alot of ppl limp/call to much so create lots of dead money, and lots of ppl don't seem to pay attention to the fact that calling a pf shove with AJ vs an 8/8 is absolutely retarded (lots probably don't have an HUD). The "oh it is only 20bb i'll just take a chance with my marginal hand" may not lose big stacks a huge amount of money (because they don't encounter it all that much) but it is very profitable mindset to ss against and i think that far too many micro stakes players think this way.

Its more profitable at high stakes where players raise more preflop, and do so with a wider range of hands. At low stakes, just play full stacked, make better than top pair, and take their whole stack when they can't fold top pair/no kicker.

What is the short stack strategy? Is it just going all in when you have a hand? How good does it need to be? Where can I get more details?

In this particular discussion, it is important to understand this is about ring game short stack buy-in strategies, and should not be confused with tourney short stackedness.

For ring game it comes down to a matter of preference I think.

You may be better sitting down at a table with a full stack and using that to your advantage or you may be better suited to buy in with the minimum and just wait for good hands. Short stacked forces you to play only "playable hands," which is good. However, short stacked people will get calls with weaker hands, and losing may just be part of it

One last thing, It is important to use Bankroll Management as well, so if you can't buy in to 25nl with the max, you probably shouldn't be playing there

I don't like to go short into ring games, and if you notice most short players (at least those in the tables i use to play) kinda usually lose more than they win. Anyways if people in the table are deep go max buy in, if they are Medium stacked, go medium, just never go short, it will make you lose more than it will make you win (at least that's what happens to me!)

You should generally never be short stacking games. The whole point of making money at poker is playing where you think you have an edge. If you think you have an edge, then you should want to have as much money on the tables as possible.
