satellite tourney to edinborough advice please

Played the £8 rebuy tourney to the Uk Ediborough tourney last night did ok but the blinds go up very steep and before you know it it's 600-1200 and what looked like a healthy stack of 10000 suddenly looks a bit short, the problem being that if you get a run of cards that are absolute junk what can you do? I've noticed that players if they are in first are often going all in but can you really do that with 8-2 or 8-3 ect.. I know it puts pressure on others to fold..well I ended up with A-6o in the sb with an AI on the button I've got 7000 left so I call hoping he has not got an ace well he did and with a Q kicker. Should I be going all in with junk or not as when the antes kick in it's usually a 1500-2000 pot, I think i just find it hard to push with junk, this one guy went all in 3 times on the bounce surely he did not have a hand every time? I think it is these mid stages of a tourney whent the antes kick in that I struggle with any thoughts...?
