Which road to take? BR Management? Good Evening all, I am at a crossroads here on what to play as a plan to make some decent cash (I would be happy with $1k a month!) and wanted some outside input. In real life, I live in Vegas and I usually go to local casinos and play $1/$2 NLHE or sometimes Fixed if not a lot of NL players on tables... I usually go in with $200 and after all is said and done, come out 80% of the time in the positive revenue... usually near doubling up most the times. I find this EXTREMELY different than online play... I have attempted employing the same strategy and play the same online... but there is always some lucky fish running around and ruins the day... what I am trying to say is online is wayyy more LAG than live play as most of you all know. As some of you may know, I was recently incarcerated for 6 months in Clark County Detention Center here in Vegas... I won't go into it, but just put it as this, I have a problem with handling my alcohol as I get excessive when I drink. Being around it for me... well, I know I should not be around it... for a councilor once stated that if you do not put yourself in a situation where the drug is available, then you won't have to worry about breaking down and doing that drug (alcohol). Well, being in a casino setting with people teeming around drinking and being offered a drink every ten minutes is not going to work for me... I can say I do not want to touch it... but the distraction I know would throw off my game. Now to the point of the post... I am adapting, once again, to online play... I find myself always on the Merge Network... now leaning towards BCP. I am fairly good at small field MTT's and love the 45 man SNG's as I tend to finish ITM 7/10 times. I like playing Super Turbo HU $2 games.. but I do not believe my BR is large enough for that at this moment as I have read suggested buy-in's should be at least 50. I am currently working with a BR of $60 ought dollars and have been entering into the 45 man SNG's $2 and slowly grinding my way up. (I started with $20 deposit last evening). I have played the DoN games and find myself wanting to pull my teeth out as there is no skill really involved in them. SO... I would like to focus on SNG's and small field MTT's... I cannot adapt to the cash games online... just gets me heated as I prefer live cash play. With all of this in mind... what are some suggestion's to keep on trucking and mainly proper BRM... I know this is a must and as I stated earlier in the post... it would be nice to earn somewhere in between $500 and $1k a month playing PART TIME online poker. I consider part time to be oh lets say 3 - 5 hours a day... on days I am not obligated to do much... maybe as much as 8 hours. I would like INTELLIGENT input on what one should do to achieve this goal... The proper BRM guidelines and any strategy input that would be worthwhile. Should I be looking to play some other games that I am not aware of (or oblivious to)? Let's start the conversation... Moe. Edit: Just to clarify, this is not my only income, nor do I plan on this as my only job... It is more of a supplemental plan to my already existing income.

You can play with the numbers yourself, but one thing you should look at is what kind of average hourly win rate you can expect at the stakes you're rolled to play, and based on that, how many hours you'd have to play per month to meet your target of $500 to $1000. It doesn't seem like you've done this. Until you do, I don't see how you can know what your base is in order to look at what has to change in order to hit your monetary target within the amount of time you want to allocate.

Thank you for the response... wish there was more input... hopefully in the following days. Update: Grinding the fast 50 SNG's and $1.06 Super Turbo 6 Mans... Extremely soft playing on these fish filled tables... Grinded up to $105.11 w/out rakeback for the day on that yet... Going to stick to these 6 Man Super Turbo's as I am cashing 9 out of ten times on them... also... want to run 10 x $2 HU Super Turbo SNG's tonight... I used to play A LOT of HU and judging by the people on Merge Network seems like an easy catch... We will see how it goes... still staying away from cash games all together. I should have posted in my original post... of course I do not expect to be banking what I want to a month at this micro level... I am just working my way up... I tend to appreciate a dollar more if I win it as opposed to just depositing $100 or more... I will work my way up to higher levels shortly by grinding what I have now. Appreciate any input... Moe.

re: Poker & Which road to take? BR Management? Alrighty... Played 20 HU ST SNG's @ $2 (Frigate Bird Room) Game Buyin + Fee Winnings HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $0 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 HU ST SNG $2 + .10 $4 _________________________________________ Analysis: Total Number Played = 20 Total Number Won = 13 Total Number lost = 7 Profit & Loss: + $12.00 Total Rake: $2.00 Rakeback @ 35% = $0.70 _________________________________________ Total Profit & Loss w Rakeback = +$12.70 Session start @ 2000hrs Session end @ 2100hrs Total Time = 0060minutes _________________________________________ Profit & Loss Per Hour = +$12.70 Okay.. so I gave these a shot... I went on a pretty nasty run in the beginning... Cards were just flying for my opponent and I should not have had 2 rematches with him... suckouts, etc came in... Some of you must be thinking... only 20 played in 1 hour??? Yes, I did not multi-table as I wanted to get adjusted to playing these SNG HU ST. I have noticed some holes in my play... I need to stab at the "orphan" pots... started doing this and fared out better. Trying to avoid players that I see on there consistently and get the rematches with super fish... I am going to take a break off these for now... I know 20 games is a small small smalllllll sample size... I am going to break off into the $1.06 6 Man ST SNG's for now... Maybe later tonight I will run another 50 $2 HU SNG's. Input? Comments? Questions? Moe.

I am going to stick to $1.06 6 Man ST SNG's as these seem to have a little less variance. |

Quick Update... Been having a bad run lately... Grinding the 6 Man ST $1.06 tables and Fast Fifty SNG's... BR is up to $151.76... I think I may deposit on Colt Poker as I am getting a free $50 BR on there... it is on Revolution Gaming Network... Reason being is that I hear there are a lot of fish there... Just want to try it out and see how the games run. I am always open to advice... doesn't seem like many are replying to my post... any constructive input welcome. TTFN, Moe.

Hey man, I am in similar boat as you, I used to play 6 man super turbos on merge(don't really trust merge from everything lock has said about that) and am currently on Revolution (intertops) playing heads up Super Turbos and random guaranteed MTTs. I mainly play the 3.50 hypers but will occasionally play the 7 dollar ones as they seem fishier (wish they had 5 dollar buy in hypers). I've done quite well in the heads up and tournies final tabled 3 for ~250 and have ~120 in winnings from sngs that I built from 20$ in freeroll winnings! So it sounds like were going at around the same pace on the same sites haha. I'm sure I'll see you around the tables! Congrats on the success, keep building!
