Right move at the wrong time?

Is there such a thing? Over the last week or so I have had to stop myself from posting screen shots of me folding.....K5 (the board lays out K55 when its all said and done) 48o (567 on the flop) and J4 (444 on the flop). With the title "Right move wrong time". The more I think about it the more I think that since I couldnt even get 3 to 1 on any of the hands in question that folding was the RIGHT MOVE period.

Give me some feed back on this please

well you can flop quads or a house with any 2 cards that doesnt mean you should play them. Once you fold just forget it, all of your examples are no brainers, dont worry about what flopped.

Thats exactly my point. I dont think there is any such thing as a right move at the wrong time. Just right and wrong moves. Poker is seldom black and white, except in this case.

Those look like right moves at the right time with unlucky results, but don't even worry about them. You obviously made the correct choices with these hands preflop, so focus on continuing to do so.

I am not too quick at playing K5 unless I am in a BB or SB. I would also play them depending on the cost to do so. If the blinds and antes are small, then maybe.

Once you have folded your 2 cards you should forget them. I've had a tournament in which almost every folded hand came back on the flop, but when I played the next hands I got nothing. So, don't play too much hands when you hope on a miracle on the flop...

I can understand playing K5 in BB if you have the option to check and maybe in the SB as well, but please explain your reasons for playing them in any other position. Even if blinds and antes are small, I don't see when it would be profitable to play K5 in any other position except BB.

True, but the member I was quoting said nothing about raising on button to steal. From what I'm reading, it sounds like they like to limp in with K5 if blinds are low.

pot odds.... total trash (way way worse than k5o) can become the correct play depending on the them, and that is not even including any implied when your total junk hits hard and is well disguised.

"Right move/wrong time" usually refers to situational plays that are based upon the tendencies of another player, not necessarily on holdings. The cards your opponent has often ruin your "right move".

For example, you're in the late stages of a tournament and a guy to your right has been stealing your BB mercilessly. Each time you fold he shows you crap like K5, J4, and 48.

Finally you pick up QQ in the BB... guess what he has?

Trash pre-flop hands are still trash, even when they hit. There is no way you can play K5o, 48o, and J4o! Yes, but sometimes they hit and when they do it is very frustrating! But, remember, this is just Lady Luck's way of torturing you! The ONLY way you could ever play those rags is in the BB in an unraised pot. And, then when they hit (unless they hit a boat or quads) they often only get you in trouble. Fold those rags and don't look back.

Said it a million times, but being decision oriented is all you can do in poker. If you fold 7-2 and the flop comes 222, that doesn't make you a bad player, you played the hand perfectly.

Your right there is no such thing... people forget this is gambling on a small level and you can only maximize your odds of winning a pot over a session of play. Either you win or you lose.

In similar situations, a move may be the right move because you win and then be the wrong move because you lost that hand. The right move is always to get your money in with best hand" at that time" luck will determine if it was the wrong move.

Results oriented...

If you think to yourself WOW! should have played the K,4 and the flop came all 44's you are missing the point. Some of those hands mentioned have no positive EV and should not be played. One should never say I should have played it because more than likely it will be a waste of chips, money in the long run based apon the EV of the cards.

LOL first thing I think of is this post...but....I don't know how I could have justified the river call.
