| Recommendations on a Poker Book on HORSE? I have been playing for about 3 years and was wondering what is a good book on poker. There are alot out there but what I am looking for is general rules and strategy books. I play holdem but have liked horse and find it hard cause I am a bit shor on the rules of Razz and Omaha. I get the games, but then sometimes when I lose of course, I dont get them, lol. Some help please. Thanks. |

| Well as far as Razz goes, I'm sure there is some good stuff out on the internet. As for Holdem poker books, it really just depends but refer to this golden archive thread from someone who knows more about all the books than I. First Poker Books |

I saw on CC somewhere a book descussion on "Harrington on Holdem", I haven't read the book yet myself, but I heard both volumes are a good read. I just finnished "Theory of Poker" by David Sklansky and I think that might be somthing you would want to take a look at!! |

I havent read as many books as some people on this site, but of the ones I have read I think the Harrington on Holdem series did the most for my game. It really breaks down individual hands and gives you the thought process behind what moves you are going to make next. Theory of Poker is good too, I actually read it before reading the HOH books and I think it gave me a better understanding of some of the concepts in HOH. Supersystem is also a good read, but much less detail than the HOH books (and for some reason whenever I reread Supersytem I seem to have a bit of a downswing for a few sessions afterwards) |

| re: Recommendations on a Poker Book on HORSE? Probably wont find too many books on razz... but if you are playing tournaments I would also recommend the HOH series. Also, I will always recommend Moshman's "Sit 'n Go Strategy" to ANYONE playing sngs. Also, what stakes do you play? If you play micro's it would probably be in your interest to get a book to get some knowledge but looking around poker forums at hand histories and strategy guides etc are probably equally if not more valuable. If you play mid-high stakes (which is probably not likely considering which forum you are posting in) then you should probably go with a training site. |

Nor does it cover Stud8 - Sklansky's chapter on high-low stud talks about the version played without a low qualifier, which isn't played in any standard HORSE game and requires a somewhat different strategy. So the original Super System only really covers three of the five HORSE games. While I haven't read it all in detail, I believe Super System 2 covers them all (and other games besides). |

| re: Recommendations on a Poker Book on HORSE? there's a short section in the original super system on razz though. but really OP you're better off getting various books that specialize in each of the games than looking for one book that encompasses everything. the super systems are a good starting point though and stuff like ray zee's high low split poker book are good once you've got the basics down. |

| Im big on the poker books and really have never seen 1 strictly HORSE. Wish Chip Reese had written 1 before he passed. Not much out there for RAZZ really either. Id just read certain sections of books if you want to get better at HORSE and see alot of hands at low levels. That will probably help you more then any book anyway. |

| I learned a lot about Horse by reading through sections of each game separately in Super System. I haven't seen any books with a dedicated Horse strategy though, I'd like some talk of how to adjust to the different blind and anti structures when each game switches. |
